Candace Parker doesn't make U.S. roster

Very surprising, especially to be cut this early in the process. Candace Parker is too good to be left off the US roster. She is arguably the best female basketball player in the USA, maybe the world, but she is without a doubt in the top 12. I have to believe there are politics at play here*. Parker has already done TV commercials for NBC and the US Olympic people to promote the televised games.
Her potential replacements- Elena Delle Donne is very good, but not close to possessing the skills and talents of Parker, IMO. And Breanna Stewart is an exceptional talent and will develop into a good pro player, but she has no international experience, and has never faced the kind of strong competition that will come in the Olympics or the WNBA. IMO, Candace Parker is a better, more physical, and more experienced player than Stewart.

* the head coach of the US women's team is Geno Auriemma who is also the head coach at UConn. There are many that he prefers to "stock the team with players he coached at Connecticut (Parker went to rival Tennessee)".
