BU recruit- class of 2014- Peyton Allen

Peyton Allen hosted a visit from Cuonzo Martin from Tennessee yesterday and is visiting Saint Louis today.

I don't think so -- he's still just a junior - lots can happen and despite all the hype and all the visits - Allen still has very few real offers that are better than his chances at Bradley

Peyton Allen has been diagnosed with mononucleosis and he will miss about a month of playing.

Allen is still out - his team is struggling without him - this is not gonna help his recruiting stock...

Allen is now scheduleing visits to arizona state, va. tech, okie state, iowa and oregon state.

has his stock fallen?

This weekend he's headed for visit at St. Joseph's..
last we heard Bradley was hot after him and getting kudos for hosting Allen on a visit back when he was just a soph - and Allen was being pursued by Illinois, Iowa, DePaul, Michigan, Northwestern, Wisconsin, etc..

now one recruiting site lists Idaho State, Toledo, & SEMO offers in the mix...

Allen had a lot of good offers a year ago - Iowa, SLU, but he was sick with mono and missed almost all of last season - so interest dropped off......
right now it is said he is sitting on lesser offers like the St. Joseph's, Toledo, and Bradley...

a year ago Iowa, Michigan, Oklahoma State, DePaul and BCS guys were offering but don't know if those offers are still in play..

My guess is that he is still wide open as he has not been taking any recent visits that we know of..
This article from St. Joe's says his visit to St. Joseph's is the only one he's planning this fall

LOL - nope - I don't think of it as a lesser offer - but I know the recruits often do and are told to do so by certain people and "handlers...
and in the grand scheme of things it's hard to make the argument that an offer from Bradley is as prestigious as one from a Big Ten school...

.. but for years and years I have hyped the argument that kids overlook offers from strong schools like BU, other Valley schools, SLU, etc...
just to take a 12-13th spot at a Big Ten school or Big East --
how many times do we see that exact story of kids who way overshoot or aim too high??

Look at all those kids who left BCS schools and came back to play at Valpo, and guys like Devan Bawinkel, Cully Payne, Mike Shaw, etc...
those are all kids who fell for the line that a BCS offer was way better than those lesser offers...
You can pick all you want on POB for bad choices since declaring for the draft - but he benefitted tremendously from his choice to go to Bradley..

Peyton Allen is strangely silent - he took very few visits and there's no word on if he'll sign before the LOI signing period ends Wednesday..
The talk on the St. Joseph's board is that he is leaning towards St. Joe's and that this may be his only solid offer.
He is a Jeremy Crouch-like player - a big (6-5) shooting guard with good instincts for the game...I hope we stay on him for the scholarship we are holding for the spring.

I've been interested in our recruiting him because I would love to have another shooter, I have been wanting one for years. We finally have Omari, and I'm hoping Swop and SZ will eventually develop into good shooters. Barnes is decent. If we can get another top notch shooter to pair with Omari that'd be huge imo.

I also hope we are still in on him!
