New premium article on Ben Brust

http://notredame.scout.com/2/811571.html

"College basketball programs have a good feeling about Brust, a class-of-2010 recruit out of Mundelein (Ill.) Cons High, as well. After averaging 17 points and five rebounds per game as a sophomore, Brust has racked up 10 scholarship offers from places like Butler, Davidson, Southern Illinois, Bradley and Valparaiso.

???I never expected to have this many offers at this age,??? Brust said.

Brust is also hearing from Washington State, Stanford, Northwestern and the Irish.

???I??™m excited about the fact that Notre Dame is recruiting me,??? Brust stated. He gets regular emails from the Notre Dame coaching staff, and talks once a month on the phone with assistant Sean Kearney.

Brust also visited Notre Dame??™s campus last basketball season for the DePaul game.

College programs are recruiting Brust as a combo guard.

Brust has a 3.5 GPA, and isn??™t sure when he??™ll be making a college decision. He just knows it won??™t be anytime soon.

???I want to go somewhere I??™m wanted,??? Brust said. ???I don??™t want to go somewhere I have a chance, I want to be wanted. I want to like the system they play, that??™s going to fit me. Also, just the players, the coaches, a little bit of everything.???

Quick have that announcer from the BU/MSU game call this guy......BU is the place to go if you like to shoot the 3.

I know this sounds bad... but does him having a broken leg during an important part of the season help our recruiting by other people backing off?

I like this kid.

It has historically helped lower level schools, as high-profile schools, and BCS-type schools have other recruits they can turn to.

For example, Bradley might not have gotten Eddren McCain if he had not had an injury in high school that caused other schools to back off. And farther back, Eric Roberson would likely have landed at a Big East school except for a severe knee injury that knocked him down to a mid-major recruit.

Ben Brust gets a nice writeup in the national coverage and prominently mentions Bradley...
PM me to learn more.........

It reports that Ben Brust got an offer from Iowa last week. Then this week he was visiting Northwestern and received a scholarship offer from northwestern coach Bill Carmody.

In addition to the offer from Northwestern and Iowa, he has scholarship offers from Butler, Davidson, Bradley, and Southern Illinois. He is also getting...interest from Virginia and Stanford in the past month.

Brust was scheduled to visit Iowa in the middle of May, but those plans have changed and he will be making the trip to Iowa City next week.

nope...but in the premium articles here is the order in which his schools were listed...

In one he says.....
"Brust said he has offers from Iowa, Butler, Bradley,
Southern Illinois and Davidson."

In the other it says...
" In addition to Iowa, he holds offers from Butler, Davidson,
Bradley, and Southern Illinois."

Notoriously the guys writing the articles leave out the mention of the non-BCS schools and they have a track record of downplaying interest from smaller schools like Bradley..
Thus I can only assume that Bradley is at least still in Brust's top 3 or 4....
Brust's brother played soccer at BU.

A New premium story from Iowa suggests they think they will have him wrapped up,
and that Kaylon Williams will not end up at Iowa.
