BU exhibition game vs. Quincy- Saturday 11/6 at 7:05pm

When point spread is a tie breaker I'll care about scores...

Ditto...the point spread in an exhibition game is irrelevant. The BU coaches will not be treating this game like a regular season game. They should be focused on trying different combinations of players and identifying areas for improvement.

The video will be the most valuable thing to come out of this game.

Agreed ! The video is huge!

I'd usually agree that the point of exhibitions is to try new lineups and working out the jitters for the new guys.

However, this year I think the fan base needs a thrashing to pep them up. The last time these guys played, they got embarassed down in St. Louis and called off the rest of the season. I want to see them fired up to be back in front of the fans and band. It's time to show that this isn't last year's team. A close ballgame doesn't show that.

A few things I want to take away from the exhibition.

1) how attentive we are to defense and more specifically rebounding.

2) how much of an impact Jordan Prosser has.

I really think Prosser and Egolf playing together is going to be very important for this team. Prossers ceiling is unlimited and I want to see how much of an impact he makes, specifically on the boards.

3) if we make a concerned effort to put the ball on the block on offense, or are we going to be a settle for jump shots team.

I think you're going to be disappointed. This isn't the conference or even season opener, and I would hope that the staff isn't going into this game focused on this being an oppurtunity to get the fan base excited for this season. If that's a by-product of the game then that's great, but this is an exhibition and I hope to see a bunch of different lineup combinations which will invariably lead to some sloppy play. But that's ok because this is only an exhibition and nothing to get too high or too low over.

With that said there are things that I'm looking forward to seeing such as the rumored improvement of our bigs and a strong defensive/rebounding effort.

Agreed on all:!: We better see a combination of big's in the the game at the same time with Brown by JL or I will know we will finish middle of the pack again:!::( Come on Jimmy, don't fell the bench with Bigs, forget that small ball:!: Get it inside and stop the launching of bombs:roll: Unless you have a way of putting JC in the game:lol:

This is our last tuneup before our 1st regular season game so I think the players should be challenged as far as how good are they at this time of the season and show everyone how much better they are then Quincy at this time.
If you don"t challenge them and give them what your expectations are now then you are wasting the opportunity as this is a dress rehearsal for the players, coaches and the fans of what to expect in the coming games.

The BU women play their second and final exhibition game Saturday, Nov. 6 at 2:05 pm against Washington University of St. Louis, MO.

This should be a good game. Washington U. is the defending NCAA Division III national champion, and return 14 letterwinners from last year's national championship team. They are ranked #4 in the country in the D3 preseason poll.

Good tickets are available, and parking is free!

Good luck tomorow BU vs Quincy from Arizona.

Stick to honing your offensive and defensive fundamentals.

No show boating if you take a big league. This is a 'working' holiday from your preseason practice routine. Work on becomming a dominant team vs taking the night off to play 'Showtime'...

Save the 'showboating' (alley oop passes, no look passes, monster dunk attempts, one on one offense moves, etc) for the last minute of your upcoming blowout win in the 2010-11 MVC Conference Tourney. :D

Looking forward to the game, especially a chance to see more of the new players. If I recall correctly, Anthony Thompson was able to play in the exhibition games before they redshirted him, so I would hope Andrew Davis sees the floor during the game. He looked real promising though definitely needs to put on some more pounds.

And since this is an exhibition, I'm definitely wanting to see some potential combos like two post players on the floor at the same time and TB at the 3 if he plays.

picked up tickets yesterday afternoon and they said less than 1500 had been sold. I wonder why they feel the need to charge $15 for tickets when regular season tickets can be had for less. Really think they would be better served to charge $5 and fill the place up.

Yes, a freshman player can play in exhibitions and still redshirt even without a medical excuse. This does not apply to upperclass players.
A medical redshirt can still be taken if the player doesn't play in more than 20% of the team's scheduled games, or later than the halfway point of the season.

--Correction -- a couple years ago the medical redshirt rule was revised..

The three criteria are now...

1- a season ending injury or illness thus you cannot "come backand compete while healthy then quit in time to redshirt
2- cannot play past the mid-point of the season as determined by the number of games scheduled
3- cannot compete in more than 30% of the team's scheduled contests (which at the D-I level, most teams schedule 28-30 games or so thus that means 8 or 9 games)
but NCAA reviews and rules on each case individually...

I refuse to go on the ground that I feel like I am being ripped off.

Agreed....fill the place up...

This is a question mostly for the out-of-towners (I'm looking at you AZBU, SFP, Houston, etc.). I know DC said he wasn't sure if there was video for the game, do any of you guys know about video? If not, do you listen on the wmbd website? What's the URL for that site?

I'm in Madison and was hoping to make it down, but work has me flying out at 8am tomorrow :( Gotta at least HEAR how my Braves are.

Thanks!!
