Bradley gets commitment from class of 2019 7-foot center

Bradley has gotten a commitment from 2019 7-foot center Aristide Boya who played last season at The Conrad Academy in Orlando, Florida, though it appears that he left The Conrad Academy and transferred to Calusa Prep School in Miami in February, 2017.

He is originially from Cameroon. Here is an interview from a year ago-

He played for the Hope School Basketball, a private school started in Douala, Cameroon. He then came to the US played for a short time at Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville, Florida, the same school Koch Bar once played at-

He plays for Indiana Elite AAU team-

There are reports that he may now be as tall as 7'1". This tweet says he is 242 pounds, though the pictures and videos don't look that heavy-

Or 7'2"-

I by no means have any info, but any rumors that he may reclass?

I have searched about everything related to him on the internet, and on twitter, and have not found anything that suggests he could reclassify. I also haven't found a birthdate.
According to this video posted a little over 2 years ago, he was said to be 16 years old at that time-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA9JbeNv8jk (at the 19 second mark)

That would make him 18 years old now, so he is now at the age when most US kids graduate. But, it would depend on his academics, and right now with all his school changes (it appears he may have attended as many as 3 or 4 different high schools/prep schools in the US already), it would be difficult to know.

In case anyone didn't see these couple videos that were already posted-

Here is a video from 2 years ago when Ari was still playing in Cameroon-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA9JbeNv8jk

And here is a short video clip from earlier this month-
https://twitter.com/hoop_mia/status/842799407057833986

What is apparent is the marked improvement he shows between the 2 videos. He looks much more fluid and athletic in the recent video, and his offensive & defensive games are both improved by playing against decent competition. I'd expect him to continue to develop. He could be quite a force by the time he gets to Bradley. :)

When was the last time we got a commitment from someone BEFORE their HS junior year?

PS- I have heard our staff is as excited about this commitment as any they've gotten

That is not the Bradley commit Aristide Boya.

It is a different Cameroonian player named Aristide Mouaha (also known as Aristide Mouaha Tcheussi). Here is another video of Aristide Mouaha-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VihgsQ7bT1o

Aristide Mouaha plays professionally in a lower level pro league in Italy.

I saw that when I initially posted videos of Boya, and the name is confusing. But the Bradley commit does not dribble the ball quite that well.

a guy that does a pretty good job covering Florida prep basketball has a pretty nice piece on
Aristide Boya

(you will soon see this article poached & linked elsewhere after they read about it here) ;)

"Boya's relationship with assistant coach Drew Adams was a major component that solidified his decision."

This blog writer had some other pieces previously on Boya..

...2019 7-foot center Aristide Boya who .. transferred to Calusa Prep School in Miami...

today, the head basketball coach at Calusa Prep, Derrick De La Grana, just stepped down to take the head spot at a different school, Immaculata-La Salle, a large Catholic school in Miami. He is a very well connected coach, as De La Grana's father is Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development of the Miami Heat!

Coincidentally, at about this same timing two years ago - Koch Bar's head coach left West Oaks HS (Jacksonville) and took a job at Jacksonville Arlington Country Day HS - and in that case...Koch Bar went with him to the new school and was later joined at ACD by Jayden Hodgson.

I guess we will have to wait to see if this changes anything for Aristide Boya or will he stay at Calusa Prep?
If Boya plays at Calusa Prep, he will play alongside FOUR other top recruits who are getting DI offers - LINK, LINK, LINK, LINK

La Salle HS does not appear to have any other top recruits..

However - one of the top recruiting sites and top marketing & exposure organizations in Florida is HoopsMIA, which happens to be run in part by Derrick De La Grana. LINK

as somewhat anticipated, Aristide Boya is making a move...
He is leaving Calusa Prep in Miami and transferring to
Scotland Campus Sports
... a relatively new prep program in Pennsylvania...

"....Scotland Campus Sports (the team will be called NTSI - National Top Sports Institute), under the legendary prep coach Chris Chaney, Boya will again entertain a schedule rife with prep superpowers.

Scotland Campus Sports will compete on the now prestigious Grind Session, featuring handfuls of the country's upper echelon programs and various post-graduate programs.

Cheney... has won three Maryland State Championships and three National Prep championships"

Sounds like this move has a chance to be be a step up...

another highly rated player at Calusa Prep is now transferring

5-Star Luguentz Dort, tho, will stay at Calusa Prep

Meanwhile - 4 more highly rated recruits (Karim Coulibaly, Lawrence Slim, Joel Ntambwe, Arminas Kleisys) are joining Aristide Boya at Scotland Campus Sports this coming season - including two talented guys from Luuk van Bree's homeland the Netherlands
