BU Commit- 2015- Ronnie Suggs

BU recruit- 2015- Ronnie Suggs

BU recruit- 2015- Ronnie Suggs

You beat me to it. I was just preparing this post on Ronnie Suggs-

Bradley coach Brian Wardle is now recruiting Ronnie Suggs, a 6'5" athletic shooting guard/wing player who is currently at Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, VT, and he has received a scholarship offer.
He is originally from Washington, Missouri, just outside St. Louis. He was an outstanding high school player for Washington High School and averaged 23 ppg his senior year. He committed to Missouri back in August, 2013 when Frank Haith was the Missouri coach. He planned to do a year of prep school, then join Missouri.

However, Missouri changed coaches 1 year ago, and Frank Haith is no longer there at Missouri. So Ronnie Suggs remains uncommitted now. He recently made a visit to Southern Illinois this past weekend, and he has an offer from Barry Hinson to go along with offers from Rice, Camobell, and Miami. Some recruiting sites show other offers, but many of them were from a year or more ago out of high school and may not be current any more.

He is the younger brother of Scott Suggs, a 2008 recruit, who was a Bradley recruit, but went on to star at University of Washington-

Nebraska recently showed interest, but apparently did not offer-

I wonder if the offers from MO and St. Louis were 2014 offers or 2015 offers. It looks like SIU has offered him. It may be hard to get him to consider Bradley as compared to his home town vicinity.

There were old offers from Missouri, and St. Louis and a couple others that came back in 2013. Those offers are not valid offers now. His current offers appear to be SIU, Campbell, Miami, and Bradley. He has had others interested (Nebraska, Richmond, Butler, Texas Tech, and VCU), but those do not appear to have offered.
I think Bradley should be able to compete against the offers he has now.

it has been said this visit today to Bradley by Ronnie Suggs is an official visit - and he visited SIU last weekend - and after this - he's reportedly said he won't take further visits ...
so he might decide soon...

also I have heard that at least one or more of the other kids visiting Bradley this weekend were just recently released elsewhere

one other thing - it seems Brian Wardle plays things a lot closer to the vest than Geno did - Geno used to "leak" names of recruits all the time so they'd get a little extra press and it also bought a lot of good vibes from the local media feeding them the info...

Suggs is on his way to Bradley for his official visit. Let's hope he is impressed with Bradley and the facilities. I like the fact he is a big guard who can shoot exceptionally well (18.3 ppg, 57% overall, 44% from three, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals per game). I'd love to see him play at Bradley, and maybe he'd like to play close to his home, which is Washington, Missouri. His other offers currently are Rice, Miami (Ohio), SIU, Bradley, and Campbell.
I don't know that he won't make any other visits, but it has been reported that he does not have any others arranged at this time.

We are working to try to find who else is visiting this weekend, but as stated, the coaches are not apparently anxious to have that info known.

One of the offers Ronnie Suggs had was from Miami (Ohio). They had only 1 senior on their roster this past season, and only 1 available scholarship for next season. But today they used that scholarship and got a commitment from a similar player. So Miami's offer to Suggs would appear to have dried up.-

as a senior in High School he was ranked 5th in the entire state (Missouri)
...as a high schooler he was ranked #2 in the state of Vermont - LINK

One Rivals story says he has a GPA of 3.2 and already has over 20 college credits!!

As some may already know, Ronnie Suggs is the younger brother of Scott Suggs, who was a Jim Les recruit way back in 2006-2007. He graduated in 2008 from the same high school that Ronnie graduated from, Washington HS, in Washington, Missouri (just west of St. Louis).-

Older brother Scott, a 6'6" wing, "blew up" as a senior, was one of the top recruits in Missouri for 2008, and was the target of a recruiting battle between Illinois head coach Bruce Weber, Missouri head coach Mike Anderson, and Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar.

He finally committed to Washington, and spent his 4-year career there.
2008-09- He played very little his freshman season, only 85 minutes all season, and a total of 24 points.
2009-10- He played in every game, averaged 13.8 mpg, 4.7 ppg and shot 37.4% from three.
2010-11- He played in every game, averaged 18.3 mpg, 7.4 ppg, and became on of the best shooters in the Pac-12 at 45% on three pointers.
2011-12- redshirted after he broke his foot and underwent surgery
2012-13- He returned from his injury to start every game he played in, averaged 30.8 mpg, he became the 2nd leading scorer on Washington with 12.2 ppg, and was their top 3-point shooter again with 38.7%.

After college, he has played professional ball in Europe for these past 2 seasons-
2013-14 he played a full season (47 games) in the NBA D-League for the Erie Bay Hawks. He was easily their best player, and lead the team with a 18.5 ppg average, 3.9 rpg, and 40.3% from three.
2014-15 he played moved to Europe to play professionally for Chalon in the top French Pro A League. He was one of the team's top players averaging 11.0 ppg.

Let's hope Ronnie can do as well or better than his brother!

Great choice Ronnie. BU is an excellent school with a MBB fan base waiting to explode! As seen in this year's NCAA Tournament, the MVC can put multiple teams in the Big Dance. The NBA will find players good enough to play, no matter where they play college ball. Welcome to BU!
