BU 68--CU 81 final post game thread

Flashes of good things, the boys never gave up, but I see very little evidence that we can play a 40 minute game. Hopefully everyone keeps working hard. Nowhere to go but up!!!

Ok, I'm sure the color really doesn't matter, but I only think pain when I see them in a game.

VAlley after tonight
1. MS......7-1
1. INS.....7-1
3. WS.....6-2
4.CU.......5-3
4. UNI.....5-3
6. SIU.....4-4
7. DU......3-5
7. UE......3-5
9. BU......0-8
9. isu......0-8

I think this is right?

In the end, this game wasn't much different than most recent games in three ways-
Bradley falls way behind in the first half then claws their way back and plays much better in the 2nd half, but never threatens to lead, and loses by 8-16 points.

Opponents have career games- Jones averaged 1.9 ppg and was shooting 13.6% from three before tonight- tonight he goes 4-6 from three for 14 points. Also, Lawson, Ashford, and Manigat were a combined 6-7 from three. Combined, they were shooting 34% from three before tonight.

Bradley gets virtually nothing from our inside players.

Why does this continually happen DC? It happened last year and again this year. Why are these career games always coming at our expense?

Tonight was just another example of us not being able to put two good halves together. We played very well in the second half, but a 25 point half time deficit is way too much to overcome. The inconsistency is what really bugs me. If we were playing horribly all the time, and getting blown out in every game, then I wouldn't be so mad about our bad record, because we would be legitimately a bad team, but almost every game we outscore the other team in one of the halves, but it isn't enough to win. It's so disappointing.

Watch the games and look at all the wide-open threes we give up...it isn't hard for guys to have career games if they never have to hit a contested shot from the perimeter...
Chase the ball...overpursue...chase the ball...reversal...wide open 3 after wide open 3...it's been happening for years now...

It is hard to explain- opponents even have some of their best free throw shooting nights against us, so it can't all be bad defense!

Goin to be 1 heck of a battle in the top half of the Valley, i'll go to the Bradley games just to go but it will be fun to watch the other top half Valley teams play each other. Should be interesting this final 5 weeks or so.

It should be obvious at this point: Injuries, inexperience and just plain old bad luck.

Nothing at all to do with scouting, preparedness and fundamentals.

A slightly catastrophic night for the Valley.

Disagree...if the Sycamores are legitimate. If anything, this keeps the pipe-dream 3-bid scenario alive (particularly if some random 3rd team wins the tournament).

You have to keep in mind too that Kelly has missed 5 games and Lathan as well. At full strength I think the Sycs have only lost twice all year.
