SM fouls out......do we have a D' for 3's?
If I am Will Egolf, and I am getting DNP's, and see the signings of Milos and Prosser, and see a late-arrival freshman taking my minutes, I gotta take a real hard look in the mirror and wonder what my future is. I don't expect the kid to be all-world, but a 6'9" kid with his athletic ability should be contributing on a team that struggles inside.
32-18 in VERY short amount of time
I agree..;.when the dust settles out this season I think we will all be happy....it is a journey and I think the staff will get it pointed in the right direction!
2 of our newcomers 3 point for today:
DD 3 for 8: .375
CR 3 for 6: .500
Terrible shooters all?
I'll take the realistic route. We're screwed. Same mistakes as last year but add on our inability to shoot the 3 (our MAIN advantage).
No post season and here's why.
We have four possible ways to get in.
1) Beat Florida for the at large 'signature win' argument (didnt happen)
2) Beat Michigan State for the same reason (wont happen)
3) Go on a ridiculous winning streak beginning in January and go to the MVC finals like in 2006. Small percentage chance of happening. We always have injury or other issues.
4) Win the MVC. We haven't done that in awhile. Dont think thats happening either.
We have 4 more games to learn how to shoot the 3 and then we're kind of screwed. I know its Florida and there was no chance of winning but we only showed up for 8-10 minutes tops. DC with his regular problems.
Taylor has earned much more time w/ his play and would like to see him push Theron over to the 3 and maybe even see him get minutes w/ BOTH Theron and CRob on the floor at the same time....
Up front, Sam S. has outplayed DC once again and has EARNED himself a start at the 5...
Why did it take us down to 3 min left to get Will in? Is he not practicing well to deserve the time?! I mean, I'm pretty sure I could go in at this point and push DC off the block as he's softer than the Charmin...well, you know...
Wow. Hmm. Did you really expect to win this game? We were playing one of the nation's elite programs without one of the MVC's best players. Despite struggling to shoot the 3, we had this game in single digits under 10 minutes to play. I am actually encouraged that Dunson and Roberts seem to be quality immediate contributors, and that McCain and Brown seem to have identified roles off the bench. Sam M needs to shoot better, and we need to get a big to step up, but two games in I think we're figuring things out earlier than we did last year. I am excited about what this team could develop into if/when Warren gets healthy. You may be right, but don't you think that November 16 is a little early to proclam 'no postseason'?

I agree. Thanks for the words of optimism, Mike.
As I posted a couple months ago- Jim did not want to play Florida this early, or this year. He felt his team would not match up well, and could be blown out. But they had no choice, when the Top of the World Classsic folded. This was their best option, and they were promised a first round game at either Florida or Syracuse. Jim thought we stood a chance at Syracuse, and lobbied to get them, but it didn't work out that way. It does help our RPI, but otherwise we just have to hope it's a learning experience.
I thought the only way we could hang in with UF would be if our 3-point shooters got hot. That didn't happen.
Excellant points STL...
I think that Taylor Brown and Sam Singh have earned a chance to start...
and you are preaching to the choir about getting Will Egolf more minutes.
I don't see how Guinness could possibly have come to a conclusion that we have to beat Michigan State or have a long win streak to make the tourney. It's a long season. I'm sure we'll have some bad losses. I am pretty optimistic though. That is an over the top conclusion to make. We haven't played that badly so far. Give it time, it's a long season.
If WE doesn't deserve the minutes he shouldn't get any. He's not a freshman anymore. I am sure that Jim would be getting him in there if he deserved to play.
I think that the DC/SS rotation is fine. I think DC is the type of guy who probably needs to start and get loose early, and SS is more the type of guy that can handle a bench role. The only tweaking of the starting lineup I think would be inserting AW somewhere.
Yeah, people need to stop freaking out about this loss.

In all honesty, I find it hard to believe that Will could be as soft as DC...
There are a lot of things to like about this team and I belive this team can improve... butI would like for JL to tweak some things to light a fire under a couple of players.
