Andrew will be fine...
Here are his averages since the beginning of conference play..
35 minutes per game - 14.7 ppg - 4.7 rpg - 25-59 (42.4%) from 3pt
here's what one person optimistically predicted (last summer) we'd get out of Andrew-
26.8 minutes ??“ 12.5 points ??“ 3.4 rebounds ??“ 39.1% 3pt
I'd say he's been a big help and has exceeded expectations.....
I have always been told if your a scorer and your jump shot is not going in, then put the ball on the floor and find a way to get to the line and get those free points from the free throw line.
If you look at his last 8 games only, starting with MSU.
Warren is averaging 30 minutes a game
Shooting 26-79 from the field - 33% including his last 3 games of 4-14, 3-12 and 3-11
Shooting 14-36 from 3 - 39% but his last 3 games he is 6-19 - 31.5%
He is shooting in the last 8 games 23-24 from the line - 96% But last night he did not shoot one free throw and take out his 8-8 v Evansville he has gone to the line 16 times in the other 7 games combined.
He is also averaging 2.75 turnovers per game... 22 in those 8 games.
It is pretty obvious he has lost confidence in his ability to go to the rim and take contact. A guy who shoots the ft that well needs to be living at the foul line. Not settling for shots that do not initiate contact.
If it were me he would be sitting on the block and playing two man games and forcing the defense to get the ball out of his hands or he is taking the ball to the basket and again forcing the defense to deal with his length and if fouled his ability at the free throw line.
But settling for jumpshots right now is not working for Warren. But watching is play and lack of desire to go into the lane tells me he is not trusting something. Go back to before he broke his wrist two years ago he had no problems taking the ball HARD to the rim and finishing. I can not recall the last time he went hard to the rim and finished with a dunk.
