Braves Done

Discouraging game today, but would have been MUCH more discouraging to have lost to CU yesterday. At least that was a little breakthrough for us.
Let's get into the top 3 next year so we don't have to face the #1 team again.

Don't argue with Da Coach! He knows what some apparently don't!

BU had a pretty good year and JL is getting better and better! We still have a shot at 20 wins with a post season bid!

All BU needs to finish the MVC, win the MVC Tourney, and be NCAA bound again is: one more year of experience/development with the talent and scoring that returns, no injuries, and contributions from the new talent coming in, Clear as day, don't you see? Book it!

If not next year, then certainly the year after, or perhaps the year after that!

BTW, great game by BU yesterday against CU. BU players really turned it on in the LH and CR's ESPN Top 10 put back dunk was awesome.

Yesterday's win over CU showed us BU has the talent to win vs all MVC foes next year, of course except ISU, but some of their over-rated players will be gone next year opening it up for BU.

2010-11 will be the Year of the Brave in the Land of the Free! Get on the bandwagon now! Can't wait!

We played to our seed. We lost. It's not like UNI is bad.

Time to move onto the CIT. I see us getting invited, although we may not host this time if the hosts are determined on merit.

No, hosts are determined on who draws the most and who ponies up the money. Which is why we will probably host at least one game if Les and the administration choose to play in the postseason.

If we end up playing in the CIT I wonder if JL will gove some playing time to AT and MK. If those guys are to contribute next year then they really need some actual experience!

Not quite, they'll give the team with the superior resume the first option to host, IIRC.

You're both right. . .but it depends on the tourney.

The CIT is more concerned with appropriate seeding than the CBI. But not all the schools are willing to pay to host. So that plays a role in how the pairings and brackets are determined.

I know that there is a real good chance that the Redbirds will be an NIT team, but if they fall through the cracks down to the Braves invitational ERRRRRRRR CBI/CIT, how intriguing would it be to see a 3rd BU-ISU matchup, with the ending of the other's season on the line? Don't tell me that wouldn't sell more tickets than the 3 to 4 thousand the first couple rounds have been selling at Carver. And I might be the only one, but I'd like one more crack at the dirty birds! Whether here or there, I'd bet there would be over 8000 even if it was the first round, and you know it would be intense. Are you listening CBI and CIT committees?????:twisted::twisted:

Yes it was disappointing, watching this game, from a bar, by myself, nursing the mother of all hangovers (Can someone remind me not to do shots ever ever again? What was I thinking? I guess I was not!).

I like the offensive sets UNI ran on us! Their O ran better when their big was on the bench. It look like the flex but a little different with their shooter running around screens. I'd be surprised to see Ben Jacobson coaching at UNI next season. Someone will offer him a boat load of money.

We may have played some terrible ball today but lets give UNI credit for taking us out of our game. I like how solid they played very precise determined ball. I hope our guys learned something from this game.

One of the more disappointing games this year. This is a perfect example of what happens when a more physical team is allowed to be more physical because we just don't respond well to it. It's one thing to play well and lose. It's another to play like we did today. I'm sick and tired of coming down to St. Louis and not come back home with the championship. With the talent we've got coming back there's no excuse not to win it. It's time. It's beyond time.

Please, please, please. Find a 5 for next year. Someone. Anyone. Will is a talent, but he never will be a five. He's a wasted talent at the 5. I feel sorry for him for what he's had to go through this year, playing out of positiion. Fix that position and everything else will fall in place.

Bradley returns more scoring next year than any team except maybe a couple of the bottom dwellers.
A starting lineup with Sammy, TB, AW, and Will, Dodie Dunson, and maybe another big man recruit, along with Jordan Prosser, DSE, Jake, and AT will dominate this league next year.
UNI is good, but they are not that good. BU should have beaten them twice this year, and the one factor that hurt us today, their size, will be gone next year.

Anyone who thinks Bradley lacks talent to compete in the MVC next year is not paying attention or trying to start up the BU-bashing again.

The only player Wichita St. Loses is, Clevon Hannah! EVERYBODY else is back.
With Williams, who looked very good yesterday, to replace Hannah, the Shockers will be even better next year. They will contend for The Valley again, as should we, if we get a true 5. who is game ready from day #1.

But Hannah is Wichita State's leading scorer and their leading assist guy. He is tops in the MVC in assist to tuenover ratio.
His 42.7% three point percentage is also, by far, the best three point average on the team, and 2nd best in the MVC. Nobody else is over 37.9%. And his 91.4% free throw percentage was also the league's best.
So Wichita loses a lot in Hannah. They lose more scoring than Bradley does, plus they lose their team leader and best shooter.

Bradley loses only Chris Roberts (9.2 ppg) and Sam Singh (1.7 ppg)- a total of 10.9 ppg lost.
However, Bradley gets back Dodie Dunson who averaged 10.1 ppg as a junior. So the scoring loss is negligible.

I think based on past years we realize that "returning scoring" is a negligible statistic.

Our best year in the post-s16 era was the year we were supposed to be terrible after losing Cellus, POB, etc.

Although, that was also the last year we changed our system to match our personnel.

I think it is about development in the offseason.

Yes, but WSU brings back a developing 7-footer who I think will become a future NBA player (Stutz) as well as multiple BIG men. I also think Kenny Manigault will grow into the job of replacing Hannah. His assist to turnover ratio equals Hannah's from his junior year and I think he will develop into an All-MVC PG by the time he's done at WSU.

WSU will be a Top 25 team by the end of next year, IMO, and will easily be the Valley pre-season favorite.

Just got back from St.Louis , Taylor did not play much because of an injury which killed any chance we had at beating UNI, was really great to beat Creighton but until we get some inside presence we cannot compete for a title, all you have to do is look at how undersized we are against Wichita,ISU, Creighton and UNI , those 4 teams have good post players and we have a 4 trying to play center which is why Egolf is always in foul trouble. We have great talent returning but if we don"t get a good center we will not win a championship as our guys get worn down trying to play or defend against players much bigger.

The good thing is that we had three wins against these teams (3-7). This shows that we have talent but if we get that center, we can be very, very hard to beat next year. Perhaps we could even be in at-large contention with Wichta St. and maybe a couple of other teams.
