Braves Club

brocks

New member
I sent a check months ago and still haven't gotten so much as an email thank you, let alone the lapel pin, etc., that was supposed to be in the mail. I see the donor recognition page hasn't been updated since 2008.

BU and the AD should be embarrassed. I wonder how much more successful fundraising might be if there were at least an intern manning the station. What a pity.

I have no idea how much your donation was brocks and it doesn't matter. Thank you and everyone else who supports Bradley. A growing problem for Bradley is that they have ignored the smaller contributors/fans. Bradley would be better off with 1000 people who are fans for life who donate $20 per year than with the 1 fan who donates $10,000 and is gone when they lose interest. Bradley needs everyone. The current people in charge seem to have lost sight of that - if they ever saw it at all. Maybe the recent Community Nights signal a change but that would only be a small beginning. By the way the Bradley website still has the 2007 version of the Friends of Bradley soccer brochure with comments from the prior AD.

.. they have ignored the smaller contributors/fans..

I fully disagree and I know the people in the Athletic Department also disagree...
they have set up gobs of different events and opportunities for every and all fans.
Plus they are still in the process of doing more and more things...

In fact, try to name some event or perk they have done only for the TOP donors....you really can't....everything has been for the average guy on the street so I am kind of amazed to hear you say this..

They have had community events, Online and totally free chats with Geno & Dr. Cross, tailgates in past years, meet & greets, the intro event for Geno & his family, several games at the Chiefs or Cornbelters that feature BU or Geno, and then they have the Red-White, Hoopla on the Hilltop, the events on campus, the Homecoming events, the GOLF Outing, the Bid for the Braves, etc, etc...
Bradley has already had a half dozen of these such events --
Just what more do you want them to do -- come to your home and knock on your door??

Last year during Homecoming they had at least FIVE different events that featured players or coaches.. -

THIS YEAR -- they are especially highlighting their new Alumni Center but check this out..
There's a Meet Coach Geno Ford event at 3PM on Saturday Oct. 15, followed by yet another Tailgate event with the players
..it's timed with the soccer game but it is also possible that one or more of the early season practices might also be opened to the public -- yet to be decided..

Like every other school in the nation -- Bradley does reward those who give generously but those who do not or are unable to
have no reason to get miffed or jealous -- just take advantage of the plentiful things that are available..

The Braves Club offers extra perks and even the freebies in the Club Room at games --
and you can join the Braves Club for a donation as small as $125 --

Give me an example of how Bradley is ignoring you?

I sent a check months ago and still haven't gotten so much as an email thank you, let alone the lapel pin, etc., that was supposed to be in the mail.

I think that was his example.

I actually believe both parties make a point. There is a "divide" real or imagined between some fans. Some seem to think the little guy is less and less cared about. True or not, that is the perception in some circles.

Personally, I don't care. I buy tickets and go to the games. My job prevents me from going to most of the other "events". I work some nights and weekends, and therefore, miss many of the extra things the Athletic Dept. puts on.

Certainly, I think you can see BU is trying to get all fans involved. I hope they keep this things up and don't stop after 1 year.

I can also understand how some fans feel left out or ignored, as in the example above.

I didn't say that Bradley was ignoring me. I really don't care that much about attention personally. I am concerned about building/maintaining a fan base and generating donations from as broad a base as possible. Playing the jealousy card and the let them eat cake attitude doesn't help that. Kinda like Obama's class warfare in reverse. Whether you see it or not this is becoming more and more of a problem.

Question - are all Braves Club members welcome in the Club Room?

I guess you should call someone there

Why does someone who donates money to belong to a club need to call someone? Regardless of the amount donated! And if true, why hasn't the donor page been updated since 2008? We are not talking about difficult tasks here!

It appears that someone has dropped the ball in this case. A simple "thank you" email is not asking much.

because this is a scenario that's outside of the ordinary - and as we know there's been huge personnel changeover and maybe soemthing fell through, that's all...or maybe it's something the post office is actually responsible for - so I would not jump to the conclusion it's just the way people are being treated by the Athletic Department...
I hope Bobby Parker can speak to this.......

Seems there was a certain part of the BU fan base that argued incessantly for and were quite pleased with the big-league changeover of personnel...
Now that we have it I suspect we're seeing part of the fallout from having so many new people running things.....

Agreed Beni. There's no excuse for that. Bradley has hired people to enhance their social media presence......Why ignore this? They need to fix this problem as it really doesn't give the average Braves Club donor much confidence in BU's organizational skills.

That line's getting old tornado. We're talking about something that happened under the last regime.

look - it is as it is.....one guy says he didn't get a notice his donation was received..
someone completely different says he detects a pattern of BU ignoring the "smaller donors/fans"

I don't know where I fit in but I didn't get a special letter commending me on my gift either - and I just asked Da Coach and he says he didn't either...
so if there's a pattern of ANY kind, then it is something that NEVER happened before -- I have always gotten a prompt notice of my donation...so you are wrong B4L

Anyway -- I still don't see a pattern of "ignoring" any group of fans as I have laid out literally DOZENS of events and specially arranged promotions JUST FOR THE AVERAGE FAN and not for the "big boys"...

So again, I ask, where's the pattern of ignoring?? Are you saying that not sending notices - something that seems the same for big and little donors - is perceived as a slam against the little guys?

Answer -- it certainly has been updated -- and was last updated just a couple months ago at the conclusion of last school year!

Just to clarify things:

I dont mind a quote of mine being highlighted on another post, however, the words "And if true" were omitted. The emphasized part of my quote on that post is a completely different context than what I wrote.

So what happened? Did you get an acknowledgement of your donation or did you not? If you did not get a notice, than I think it is wrong for the Department to not acknowledge the contribution. I personally don't care if the contribution is $1 or $1,000,000. A simple thank you email from an intern on behalf of the department is not asking much and is a nice gesture of goodwill. jmho

I donate my money to the local bars before the games to help support the program at the games. I didn't get a "thank you" note either. I am bothered by this.

I would imagine that many things bother you every day. It must be very hard to live that way. I drove to Chick-Fil-A yesterday, but they were closed. I'm waiting for a written apology at the moment.

First World Problems.
