Bradley's 2026-27 schedule

Here is an interesting example of what is happening with D1 scheduling.
High-major schools are afraid to schedule any decent mid-majors, but in order to fill out their non-conference schedules, they need to play some mid-majors that they know they will beat.
Enter Big South member Gardner Webb. They just posted their non-conference schedule.
They were horrendous last season, and virtually certain to be really bad in 2026-27, too. They finished 4-29 overall (2-31 vs D1), 1-15, a distant last place in the Big South. Their NET was 361. Of their only 4 wins, two were home games against non-D1 schools, Brevard and Toccoa Falls, and two were against an equally bad South Carolina State, one at home and one was at a neutral site in the Big South Tournament.
So while most mid-majors might shun playing an awful school like Gardner-Webb in 2026-27, knowing it's an RPI-killer, the high majors apparently are knocking their door down to get them on the schedule. They have SIX high-majors from the Big East, SEC, and ACC scheduled- UConn, Texas, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Georgia, and Kentucky.

I think that is why Bradley is having a hard time scheduling teams. Nobody wants to play them for fear of getting beat.

Bradley will play (home-and-home) at North Texas on December 4, 2026, starting with a game in Denton, TX.
Return game in 2027. North Texas is a former member of the Missouri Valley Conference (1957-1965)
North Texas Mean Green are in the American Athletic Conference. They were 19-14 last year.
Their head coach Daniyal Robinson is a former ISU Redbird assistant. Their NET last year was 135.
Robinson's overall DI head coaching record is 84-56 after going 65-42 at Cleveland State in 2022-25.

(also, I have word that the tentative date for the ITOO Spaghetti Supper is Oct. 7)

- October 7, 2026, Wednesday - (tentative date) Itoo Spaghetti Supper - (should be confirmed soon)
- Late October - Preseason Exhibition game at Saint Louis

- Home non-conference game vs Green Bay
- @ NIU
- @ Washington State
- November 28, 2026, Saturday - Home Game vs Chicago State
- December 4, 2026, Friday - @ North Texas

- 20-game MVC home-and-home schedule

This is great to hear yoda. Teams like North Texas are the type of teams we need to be scheduling every year.
yes- and let's hope we get some more good opportunities---
and NIU could be a lot better this year - they landed a former 4-STAR recruit - transfer from Memphis --> UCF --> NIU, JJ Taylor
They also have several other former top rated recruits in their 10-man incoming class - LINK

Washington State also has a nice recruiting class with FOUR former 4-STAR guys, Ladji Dembele, Tyler Kropp, RJ Jones & Jaylen Harrell

Typo: UNT was a member of the Valley from 57-75, not 65. For most of those years they were known as North Texas State University and were the king of doormats.

The Washington State series is over. It was just a H/H.

that's one I was not so sure of, so I added it with an "if so" qualifier - LINK
... The "D1Docket" website does list another return game there for this season, and they've been right pretty consistently in the past.

So are we the last school to announce schedule? We were one of four remaining per earlier part of this thread.
no-
that comment was that Bradley was one of only four (later narrowed to just two) DI schools that had not confirmed
even one single scheduled game to date.

There are still many DI schools who have not released their full schedules
In a way I am hopeful that what this means is our staff are still trying hard to get quality opponents and not caving to the easy way
out of landing buy games with low quality and D2/3 opponents.
Check both Indiana State and Evansville who have released their full non-conference slates.
Evansville has Kokomo, USI, LeMoyne, Brescia...
InSU has Earlham, IU-Columbus, USI...

If it takes a little longer to get solid DI opponents, then fine by me. If we can't and end up with a couple D2's,
then I would understand that's the way life is when you are a good mid-major.

I'm having a hard time getting up for this season. There are so many unknowns! I know we have talent, so will see how they mesh together. I really hope Dietrich R. Comes into his own this year as a recent 4 star recruit! If he does make Peoria Proud, that will really help attendance! I'm not to excited that we have so many away games for an inexperienced team! Chicago State doesn't excite me as it's either an easy victory, or they pull the stunning upset that they have mastered in prior seasons! I just wish we could have 1 home game against a marquee opponent! Speaking of Marquee, I'm still waiting for coach Wardle to schedule Marquette Away, home, neutral!? OK, Will see how decent BU is coming soon.....

We’ll have to see the whole non-con schedule. I know we all want to see it but I am sure they are still working it. I doubt the block in getting a game with someone like Marquette is Brian-it is programs like Marquette. They don’t want to play us typically because they worry we might beat them. Also playing them helps our resume and the power 5 have no interest in boosting the chances of a mid major stealing an at large bid.

Bradley has won the past 16 games in a row against Chicago State by an average of 20 points/game. I think you're confusing them with (arguably) pre-season league favorite UIC.

In either the first game against Chicago State, or at least one of the very early ones, Bradley set two records that have since been broken:

They scored 127 points which stood until broken when they scored 139 against UC-Irvine (I think).
In the same game, they won by 61 points. This record stood until it was broken against Judson a few years ago.

Seems like the right time to remind everyone that this past season Loyola got clobbered on their own home court by CHICAGO STATE in a buy game
