Bradley women: technical foul before the tipoff

The BU women lost to Western 62-41. But what puzzled me was that BU was assessed a technical before the game started, and so started down 1-0. Does anyone know what that was about?

I don't actually know what happened today. I might be able to find out. So, I'll post later if I can.

I just learned what the technical foul call prior to the start of the women's game was about. This is what I was told-
"The shot clock above the basket on the north end was malfunctioning (flickering). So an administrative technical was issued. Western got one free throw before the jump ball to start the game."

An "administrative technical foul" is a rarely seen type of technical foul. It most commonly occurs when a team reports the players or their uniform numbers incorrectly to the official scorer. Here are examples of that - https://forum.officiating.com/basketball/49995-administrative-technical-foul-penalties.html

But as in today's women's game, it can also be called against the home team if there is some kind of facility or equipment failure that could give one team a disadvantage. Here is a brief video of a similar occurrence at the start of a different game - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFvBTMMnHH4 (explanation starts just after the 1:00 mark)
