Bradley vs. Kansas- Friday, 8:30 pm

Kansas fan here...

Kansas fan here...

And I don't think this is a good matchup at all for your team because of the tempo they play. KU lost to Bucknell and struggled in 2003 with Utah State and in 2002 with Holy Cross because they play incredibly slow. Bradley doesn't do that. Also from looking at the stats Bradley doesn't rely on the 3 pointer... that makes it more likely that they will struggle against KU's defense.

Can someone prove me wrong, or are the stats indicative of the style Bradley plays.

No, you are pretty much on the money. Bradley simply doesn't stand a chance. Kansas looks unbeatable to me.

KU has been able to score in bunches with their D, converting turnovers into points. When they can't they struggle to score in the 1/2 court. BU has some really good ballhandlers and are use to teams that press on D. I believe SIU will be the best defensive team BU will play this year. On the other hand we can shoot the three when we have to as long as it is not forced. KU will have to shut down POB and then worry about our 3pt shooting!

The game is played on the floor, not on the stat sheet.
But I like the cocky attitude that so many KU fans have, thinking they are impossible to beat.
31 different teams have been to the Final Four since the last time Kansas won it all.

Here is an interesting stat:

Teams from the Missouri Valley Conference who have played in the Championship Game of the NCAA Tourney:
----NINE (Oklahoma State when they were in the Valley three times, Bradley twice, Cincinnati 3 times, Memphis State once)

Teams from the entire state of Kansas who have played in the Championship Game of the NCAA Tourney:
----EIGHT (Kansas 7 times, K-State once)

And the stat sheet determines certain aspects of how the game will be played, and the stats say that Bradley may play at too fast of a pace for their own good. The stats say Bradley isn't a prolific shooting team, and I think threeeleven echos that.

I think the team that takes care of the ball the best and does not give up easy baskets will win. What both teams have in common is the ability to put up 10 quick points off of turnovers. This time of the year it is about what you do with the ball every possession because baskets are much harder to get.

I don't know if this was supposed to bolster the MVC or Kansas...

Kansas ALONE has more Championship games than then ENTIRE current MVC confrence.

I'm not a boastful KU fan. I am confident our team will win, but I also know we are VERY young and anything can happen. Last years team is GONE and this teams shows NO resemblence of them. There is only ONE player who played significant minutes in that game still on this team -- Moody -- and he sits at the end of the bench now. Hawkins barely played last year.

I DO find it interesting that your local papers disrespect KU, their fans and their mascot and that posters on this board honestly feel that KU is a GOOD matchup for them. Outside of Peoria that is simply not the case.

Don't take what I am saying the wrong way. I have alot of respect for your team, but I do not believe your conference plays as "tough" as the BigXII does night in and night out. Nor have you have to face teams like OU or UT during the year.

It will be settled on Friday...and should you win, I'll be back here to eat crow.

Visit Phog.net to see what other fans are saying, you'll be surprised to see how much fear and respect we have for you.

Fear us - we're showin' lucky #13 as our seed, which happens to be the number on our seven foot tall leprechaun's jersey.

Its St. Patty's Day KU...and our patron saint's name is O'Bryant.

Go Braves!!!!!

I would be surprised if this game is a double-digit job for the winning team. True, the KU players are a different bunch that lost to Bucknell last year. Bradley hasn't been in the tournament since 1995, so neither team will have past tourney experience to draw upon. The only bunch with experience from last year is the Kansas coaching staff. The Braves need to stick with the same intensity they've displayed since late January that put them in position to be in the tournament. If they shoot even slightly better than they did in the second half of the MVC title game in St. Louis, they will be in this till the end. If KU's shooting is off, they could be the one's playing catch-up at the end. It will not be easy for the winning team, but BU can pull this off with solid defense, even if their shooting is off target.

IDK, I think that KU is a horrible matchup for Bradley. I really don't like Bill Self, but KU has so much more talent than Bradley (and they still have the better coach). Luckily the game is decided on the floor - so you're saying there's a chance - but a lot will have to go right for Bradley. I think that they CAN play with KU, but I dont' think they will. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Kirk Wessler's rant about the Kansas mascot and chant, and the lack of ones by Bradley-

I've been reflecting on our name situation and by extension mascot situation. I like our name, but if we're not allowed to have a mascot or logos or chants or anything... what' the point of fighting so hard to keep it?
