Headed into the fall, we are already getting GREAT news...

Bradley Volleyball opened their season last night with a convincing WIN over the University of Illinois Fighting Illini!
They still don't have the story up on the BU website but they oughta get it up there asap with a BIG win like this

BUT - the Champaign media does have a report- Bradley won in 3 straight sets!- LINK
They played a 4th set because it's an exhibition and I suspect Bradley played subs and Illinois took that set.

Volleyball coach Alicia Williams is starting her 5th season at Bradley, and has done a good job recruiting and coaching. This year's team is a young team with 4 freshmen and 6 sophomores among the 16 on the roster. Go BU!

Honest question: Is everyone on the athletic department staff paid and works full time 12 months out of the year? For me, I would be pretty bummed if I was a player or parent related to the volleyball team and nothing is sent out about a significant result like this one. If it's because some people just aren't working in the summer, that would be one explanation. But if they are working, I would have to ask why something like this wouldn't be posted, even if a brief recap.

How does the structure work? Is Dr. Reynolds everyone's boss for people who aren't assigned to a given team or are their tiers?

I know there have been a lot of frustrations about communication and I wonder if there is a higher level person who this could be addressed?

If this can't be shared publicly for some reason, it can be sent in a PM too.

I really don't want to point fingers at anyone. I just wonder why something isn't being done and everyone has a boss who should keep them accountable.

I have a few responses for you and will send you a PM

I actually asked an "insider" with knowledge of what's going on and the answer repeatedly comes back to
"shortage of personnel" and "Brad Chandler left" and "it'll take a while for the new guy to get up and running.."

Many schools pay AD's and staff $200K to $300 and more to get this stuff done and enough budget to hire energetic people who
get it done.

Yes - everyone (on the admin side, there are some volunteer coaches and such) is supposed to work 12 months a year, 5 days a week, etc. Obviously there is some flex time as staff works a lot of the after hours events. Each sport does have a sport administrator that works with the head coach as somewhat of a liaison. That is made up of the more senior level admin staffers in the department. I believe Jen Jones is WBB, for example.

Dr. Reynolds is the man in charge for all of athletics. Buck stops there.

There isn't really a head SID position anymore like in the Dalfonso/BP days. Bobby Parker was the last full time person in that role. IIRC, his role changed more to tickets and operations towards the end of his tenure. So it has been probably 4 years since someone occupied an SID role full time. The jobs have become a bit jumbled over the years with folks coming and going. With an understaffed department, you have the 4 remaining folks absorbing the work of the 5th who left.

This lists out who does what and what position houses which direct reports. Oscar Ramirez is on like day 3 now so not sure what exact roles he'll be filling. The only people on that chart who don't directly report to Chris Reynolds would be the "Bradley Sports Properties" team which reports directly to their bosses at Learfield. They are housed in the athletics offices, but they represent and are paid by Learfield. https://www.learfield.com/partner/bradley-braves/
