Bradley Non-conference schedule

Though Bradley still has not announced their non-conference opponents, one of them appears to be Wright State. Here is an article with information released by Wright State, and they say they are playing a home-and-home against Bradley with the first game at Bradley this December 5th.

Not exactly a top flight opponent from a premier conference to help boost RPI. :roll:

BU must be counting heavily on the Chicago tournament (i.e. Illinois) for its RPI benefits. That could be a mistake.

I see nothing wrong with the Wright St game. We have DePaul (Big East), Iowa St (Big 12), and the Chicago Tournament featuring Rutgers (Big East) and Illinois (Big 10). We've got one more date to fill, I am content with either a cupcake or a good team really. Remeber, it's a down year, and the MVC is going to be as strong as ever. We should stockpile the wins where we can, and use these perceived 'easier' games to get our inexperienced players in the swing of things. There will be no nights off when it comes to Valley play.

I don't have a problem with Wright St either. Get as many easy wins as possible with a young team. Remember, an NIT birth would not be bad either, though after this past season, an NCAA birth is still doable.

I don't think an NCAA bid is doable. The MVC is too good, and we've lost too much. '07-'08 is when our Braves return to the dance, with a high-flying perimeter attack led by Dan Ruffin, Jeremy Fears, and DeAaron Williams.

Of the teams you mentioned from the "power" conferences, the only home game is DePaul. I was hoping for another couple of good opponents at Carver, that would also help boost our RPI.

Speaking of nonconference schedules, Kansas just released theirs.

It is entirely possible, and even quite probable that they will play all the way until Jan 10 before playing any scheduled opponent that is ranked. And even then, If Oklahoma State isn't ranked, then they'll play on until their final two games of the season against Oklahoma on Feb. 26 and Texas on March 3rd without facing a scheduled opponent who is likely to be ranked.
They do face Florida in a tournament matchup in Las Vegas, 11/25, but almost all the rest of their nonconference opponents will probably be in the RPI 100+ range.
For a team that will likely start the season ranked in the top 2 or 3 nationally, this is a very embarrassingly BAD schedule.

I'm not saying Bradley's schedule is better, but it isn't a whole lot worse. For a top, BCS, highly rated program, they likely will enter their conference season 14-0 or 13-1.

There is some interesting talk about SIU and their proposed
home and home arrangement with Indiana.
SIU goes to Bloomington to play the Hoosiers this coming year
with a return visit set for 2007-2008.
But the swirling runor is that before Kelvin Sampson's Indiana

As I read BUB's post he isn't counting Florida since they aren't a scheduled game.
But I have to agree somewhat.
Most top BCS programs play a few other top programs early in the season as in the Big Ten/ACC matchups and the BU/DePaul matchups.
But KU doesn't really seem to have a true nemesis or rival outside their conference.
Instead their nonconference opponents are pretty pathetic, with Towson, Tenn. State, and Dartmouth.
The scheduled oppoents include only a couple teams who even made the NCAA field last year.
Of those maybe only Boston College would be ranked.


I agree, the nonconference SOS for KU will be well outside the Top 40.

Yes, the SOS for Kansas's nonconference schedule was #142!!!!
in 2005-2006, and that was bolstered by playing Kentucky, Arizona, Nevada, Arkansas, St. Josephs and a couple others who were all top 50 in RPI.
This season they might only have 1 or 2 such opponents, so look for their nonconference SOS to be even lower.
& the two teams noted by other posters--
Texas A&M isn't picked by anyone in the early preseason Top 40's, and BC is picked by some around #20.

I am sure there are gonna be a lot of Illini fans sitting in those seats as well. And I am sorry... I don't think I could stomache an afternoon of "condescention, but thanks for rooting with us" attitude.
