Bradley MVC Champions! Final score Bradley 55 UNI 52

I literally almost passed completely out at the game. That was an incredible show of heart and Luqman showed awesome guts and leadership. A huge thanks to Coach Wardle, Dr. Reynolds, and the team for bringing the program out of the wilderness and onto the promised land of the NCAA Tourney. Go BU!

something clicked with the team & with the fan base right about the beginning of February..
Coach lit a fire under them - we were sitting with a record of 11-12 and we were 3-7 in the MVC
Then our guys went 9-2 (and one of those was the game at Drake that we were robbed - and the other was the teaching moment-game at Loyola)
...now we are 20-14- ready to take on some Top Ten team!

I think the key was expanding Ja'Shon Henry's role...
just as soon as he started playing 10 minutes or more we started winning

We are 14-3 when Ja'Shon Henry plays 10 minutes or more
and we are 6-11 when he does not play at least 10 minutes!

Anyone have any idea as to what might have caused the slump in the middle? PM or otherwise

Greg & Dan show 5:30am - 9am - but do not know what time

Thank you Tornado - I'll have to set my clock - I'm in the Denver area and that is 4:30 to 8 am my time - LOL - I'll likely call WMBD when their telephone circuits are free-er (again LOL) and see if I can get a more precise time... GO BRAVES !!!

when he has been on Greg & Dan before that I have heard- it was between 7:30-8:30 am
..time enough to hype his appearance from 5:30am to 7:30am then have him on when their audience is the largest

What an amazing comeback in that second half! Gonna start calling them the cardiac kids. Be nice to play in Des Moines where it would be close enough for all to drive there and hoping we don’t get stuck playing in the first four play in games. The Valley is way tougher than a lot of other conferences...What does anyone else think

Elijah Childs

So on March 2nd Coach Wardle virtually benches Childs during the second half of the Loyola game - and all of us experts (which we are not) questioned this move by Wardle. And then in the first round of the MVC Tournament game against Missouri State - almost immediately into the game - Childs is called for a Technical Foul and Wardle calmly pulled Childs from the game. And once Childs re-entered the first MVC game in the second half he played a great game, second MVC game / Loyola - another great game, and today's third MVC final game - a great second half and as a result - Childs won the tournaments MVP award. Bottom line - Wardle understands Childs and knows how to bring the best out of him. Just one example of how Wardle is able to bring the best out of his team. That's my off the cuff 2 cents for now. Go Braves....

In a previous post, I mention that I told my wife during Wardle's first season that we'll be in the NCAA tournament in 4 years....

4-5 years ago Bradley was at a low point and ISU was winning 20+ but falling short of The Dance. I had a goal we’d make it back to the tournament before they did. It didn’t look promising at the time, but look at the difference in results in the long run when you use discipline and hard work to drive yourself and your team.

Northern Iowa is becoming the team known to blow almost insurmountable leads....
Today they blew an 18 point lead over a 13 minute span....but....
Does anyone remember 2016 when they blew a 12-point lead over Texas A&M IN the NCAA Tournament with just 35 seconds to play?

UNI is a very young team. I think they are going to be very good over the next couple of years, but then, so are we!

Be honest folks. At the beginning of the year, how many of you thought Lundy would even be getting any minutes, not to mention making a huge difference in the tourney? What a pleasant surprise, and interesting to note that during the losing streak, Wardle named him the team leader. I thought he was nuts. Boy was I wrong!
GO BRAVES! Best tournament ever! What a ball!

Just finished watching the replay on you tube and I then watched the last 15:00 minutes again and I do declare that I'm at a loss to describe this impossible, improbable, illogical, illuminous W! This team has defied explanation all year and in this game we saw the worst of us and the best of us. Thankfully we saved the best for last. How do you go over 12:00 with 1 made FG and then make 9 straight shots. How do you explain DLO, who looked so slow and lethargic in the 1st half that he should have been on the bench to scoring 11 of his 13 points in the 2nd half, including 9 of our last 11, and playing such great defense that UNI resorted to hitting him like his was a pinball in a pinball machine. How do you explain Luqman turning into Steph Curry in the 2nd half. How do you explain Luuk turning into the terminator on defense. The 1 thing I do know? WE'RE GOING DANCIN BABY! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Also, Chris Reynolds said he will fly out to New York Tuesday and be sequestered along with the 9 other members of the selection committee. They will remain there through Sunday evaluating teams and formulating their plans for the final bracket on Sunday.
