B4L The best ideas are the simplest to explain and implement. I know how I would do this if I was in Ptown to execute. I'm betting with all the grads in high tech and TV production a break even plan could be devised. Imagine the experience.

If the games are not on regular TV/cable then who is going to produce the games for the internet?

Part of a well thought out plan would be to expand viewership and do a bit of business intelligence to see who that demographic is. I'd bet there is a way to make everyone happy but it would take a business plan and finding funding in too short of time. I have some free time right now and am looking to work for another start-up so if anyone would like to be an Angel Investor I'd be glad to see how this can be spun up. I'm sure we could expand this model to every small institution out there. :-o
 
Yeah, I don't see how it cost 10K to do a BU game....

get students like the Big Ten Network does and it doesn't have to be an amazing graphical masterpiece

I agree with the great communications program, Bradley should be capable of having student produced broadcasts...

But the B10 network brings in million$ and million$ for each B10 school. Because the B10 collects 10's of millions in channel subscription fees from cable and satellite companies. Basically, the BTN gets to levy a monthly tax on every household in every state with a B10 school.

I feel like with our sports com program that we are touting as an academic leader we could find a way to do an online broadcast in a very respectable fashion, and could pair with a local station to at least put it on a substation (i.e. 47.2 etc). If we're going to be innovators in certain fronts, lets innovate.

Now you're on to something, I would love if they would do this. Problem is I assume BU gets some reveune from the online streaming, so some who live locally that pay for the online stream may stop if it's simulcast on local TV.

Great point Lou! But I'm certain Bradley's revenue from online streaming is nominal at best. Sometimes one needs to take a short term loss for long term gain. Ensuring that Bradley's games remain available for viewing for the Peoria Region is important enough to overlook a (very) few dollars lost from BravesTV. In fact, I think (initially) Bradley can use their current BravesTV system to broadcast for FREE to the public at-large by using BU students for both broadcasting and filming. Yes, Bradley may take a small loss but they might possibly be able to work a break-even through online advertising during these broadcasts.

I'd be very interested to hear Bobby Parker's or JD Dalfonso's take on these ideas. Sometimes you just need to think "outside the box".

B4L there's some upfront investments that would need to be made and before I'd say this venture is worth the opportunity cost I'd need to see where all the revenue comes from. I'd venture to say though that new revenue streams could be made but how much is the question and when would the break even date occur. I'm positive we could whip up a team that could produce a great product but is there enough revenue to keep it going? I'm betting there is. Entrepreneurship is about thinking outside of the box and becoming profitable.

No word from BU Admin on this issue makes me believe they aren't too concerned. They've made their decision this year on the TV issue and will roll with it, even if the majority of us don't like it.

At least one of them is nearby Peoria and just maybe Bradley can deal with these guys & get some of our games on throughout Illinois!

I have a feeling a strong TV deal will continue to get less and less important and their focus will shift to strictly streaming, if it hasn't already.
 
I wouldn't be too optimistic about that. They have owned and operated WGN in Chicago for over 60 years and they rarely have shown interest in Peoria or Bradley.
