Bradley mascot

I've said for years that the gargoyle would be Bradley's best choice for a mascot. It's completely unique, it's marketable and it's just plain cool looking.

Someone brought this up in a painful "mascot" thread a few years back....and was roundly shouted down;)

It could be a good caracature if done right and blended into a logo.

It definitely could be done well. I don't believe any college has a gargoyle as a mascot.

I can only think of one that would be better...

I'd be happy if we had a Gargoyle mascot.

But changing our name to the Bradley Gargoyles would sound as good as being named the Bradley Nematodes.

If Cat keeps ponying up $$$ for BU, suggest the Bradley Bulldozers!

Better yet, BU could sell the mascot rights to Cat for BIG $$$....

We are the Bradley BRAVES. If we can't have a Brave for a mascot, IMO nothing else makes sense.

I respectfully disagree and will call to the witness stand Georgetown University. Georgetown's tradition makes Bradley look like a newbie. Once college athletics became big earlier in the century, Georgetown realized that their team name Hoya was pretty much meaningless for mascot purposes. So they adopted a bulldog as a mascot which you see on just about everything Georgetown ... even though they are still the Hoyas.

Bradley needs to get off the dime and create a mascot be it a Gargoyle (which I like), a clock (which I like), a Cat (also acceptable), or something else. Just do it and do it right.

Only thing is I, for one, don't know what a Hoya is. At least most people know what a Brave is. As for Georgetown's tradition, I respectfully disagree. Bradley was a National power back in the 50's and 60's and even in the 80's. When I was in the Army in the early 60's in DC, I saw Georgetown play George Washington at Ft. Myer, Va gym. They can thank ESPN, along with many others, for making them a National power.

I just think gargoyles are creepy......and we would look weird.

maybe as long as the phrase "Bradley Gargoyles" was never mentioned and we just had a costume.

but putting Bradley Braves on a shirt with a gargoyle would confuse alot of people

A mascot does not need to specifically match the nickname and doesn't in several cases. I'm not in support of changing the name to Gargoyles, but I would be supportive of a well-done Gargoyle mascot. I also have no problem with a clock, if done in a certain way. We all have to understand that the university will not give "brave" any sort of native american connotation as they've said that they're done with any such association, because THEY HAVE TO BE. So now we have to figure out how to market the university and sports program somehow... Personally, I could countenance a good name change if it was going to help us move forward. I'm also capable of keeping the name, but we need a better logo, and I'd like to have a mascot.
