Bradley lands a guard- Walter Lemon from Julian HS

Sounds like a good player, cannot compare to Chris Roberts because he is 6-2, need to get a center and another 6-6 wing , I know we only have 2 scholarships left but someone always leaves so we still need 2 more good players that are big.

I know this hasn't been discussed but how about someone with long arms who can play some lockdown on the ball D...

You made me think of this when you mentioned losing Chris.

And yes, once again, there is my 6'9" 265 player I am waiting for...

Great news with this kid, sounds like he could be good!

I would agree with you, maybe JL knows someone is going? If no one is going then it would make it tough to choose between a big and JW. I would take JW just cause of the talent he supposedly has. Maybe JL also knows something we don't in terms of the development of AT, JP, WE. Maybe we won't need another big? JP should be better than SS, WE and AT will hopefully improve a lot, so we can't be any worse than last year at the 5 spot, maybe we will be a lot stronger and better.

Also everyone saying that our future back court is DS, DSE, WL, what about JE? I think he will be a very good starter someday. Lot of talent at the guards for the future! I would think with 7 guards next year, somebody will redshirt next year.

I think we need to also think of two things with this signing as well

1. Someone always leaves the program. Not a knock on it but it just seems to happen every year.

2. At some point an injury happens during the year where we are in need of another guard to step up.

I know everyone is drooling with the idea of a big time 5 that can impact right away but I just don't know if that is realistic at this point. Would love to see it and agree we need one, but can we really find someone with the skills to score inside at this point?

I hope nobody leaves and we remain healthy next year. But with two scholarships open I pretty much expected one of them would go to a guard.

Can we please keep this thread about Walter Lemon, for fans who are just checking in and trying to sort through all the posts to find those with relevant info about Lemon.
We already have other threads discussing other potential recruits and what fans see as Bradley's needs.

Very excited about the addition of Walter Lemon....read somewhere that he has a killer crossover dribble that almost breaks the defenders ankles!:D Welcome to BU and feel free to bring some of your chicago bball buddies with you!

Happy to have Walter, nice start to go into Chicago again and get players to come to BU, lets get some more out of that area.

None of the 3 Peoria TV stations mentioned a word about Walter Lemon on their sports reports tonight. I know Bradley can't talk publically about this yet, but the news has already been out since 10 o'clock this morning. Come on WMBD, WEEK, and WHOI, terrible job reporting.

If they didn't report how can it be terrible? Maybe when the signed LOI comes back they will report it. It's an oral committment...not an official one

Congratulations Walter Lemon! Glad to have you as a Brave! :)

I think Les has an eye on 2 years from now when we lose Maniscalco and Dunson. Lemon seems a little small/frail so I would not be surprised to see him redshirt next year when we have an abundance of guards already ahead of him. He seems somewhat Darrian Norris-esque; I always liked Darrian Norris. :)

OK. So the kid's not a great leaper ER. We're not bringing him here to win a dunk contest. If he can drive, dish, handle the ball, and hit the 3 that's all I need to know. :)

I am sure the kid can play at this level. We haven't brought in too many guards that can't play in this regime. Whether or not he fits what we're looking for remains to be seen.

I couldn't agree more on these two points. I'm not convinced someone won't leave, and it is VERY hard to find 'legit' 5's. Especially that can have immediate impact, those are playing in conferences where big men don't rac up more fouls than points...

Agreed! People are delusional if they think an impact 5 is just going to show up and be game ready. That's unrealistic for even BCS programs to find at this point in the game.

Now that we have Walter...exactly how many scholarships do we have left? 1 or 2?

Does this mean we will go get a center and close the door on JW....or do we actually have 2 left? JW and a 5...
