Bradley 2025-26

This is super news to start the week!
I’ve been checking in a few times a day to see if Meta is coming back and he is!

Let’s get another big to help CT (who needs to make some strides) and Meta.

Lots of talent returning AND coming in, and guys returning with a stellar attitude and work ethic!

I am hearing some rumors there could be a shakeup involving the coaching staff for 2025-26.

And...
Bradley Basketball and Coach Wardle send their thanks to the "Best Fans in the Valley" - https://x.com/BrianMWardle/status/1906753808811651227

Yes, Jimmie Foster to take top assistant job at Colorado State under new head coach Ali Farokhmanesh.
Good luck Jimmie!

Isn’t he our Milwaukee connection and best recruiter? This is terrible news. Still happy to see Coach foster get an opportunity for a bigger role.

Our team is looking nice so far as we look ahead to the 2025-'26 season! Still need to get a couple more key additions to be a strong contender for the Valley crown. While we have some nice talent returning, we'll need our freshmen to step up right away.
Can Timo improve to the point of what Burch gave us this past season? I hope so, but we haven't seen enough to know, but seems he has a knack for being in the right place on the court.

Definitely need another Big to help CT and Meta...not just 10 minutes, but likely a guy who can play half the game and make an impact.
CT showed flashes of how good he can be, but I expect him to be a key bench guy to give 15-20 strong minutes. Meta could give us 25-30 per game, and he made some nice strides this past season - really needs to work on staying strong to the end of games and staying out of foul trouble.

since we aren't getting Lathan Sommerville or Cooper Koch, I have revised my list of
2025-26 Bradley Starting Five...but things could still change based on who Bradley may get from the Portal

- Meta Jonovic
- Corey Thomas
- Dietrich Richardson
- Demarion Burch
- Jaquan Johnson
subs - Montana Wheeler, Matthew Zobrist, Timoty van der Knaap
Still hopeful - Christian Davis, Shelton Williams-Dryden, Prince Aligbe, Jemel Jones

Its going to be an interesting year as it is one of the "changes of the guard" years where guys who haven't seen the court a lot are going to be major starters and contributors. A lot questions, but not blind ones.

Its going to be an interesting year....
It already is interesting and will continue to be until Bradley completes the roster & staff. We could see as many as 7 or 8 more new players added. I just hope they consider having a couple summer events for the fans so we can get to meet & know all the new players & coaches.

We are in need of at least 2 transfers that will be starters if we expect to contend or at the least finish in the top 4 of the conference.

I want to thank Tommy for putting the Bradley games on his You Tube. I just got done re-watching the North Alabama game. Thank you Tommy

We seem to have some height on the roster this coming season!

So many new faces - let's hope that a handful of newcomers will make an impact.
Could be a very special team, but we don't even have an identity yet....but if we can keep most of these guys the following season, WATCH OUT!!!

Things I'd like to see from the new look 2025-26 Braves:

Intensity on the boards - get back to outrebounding opponents
Defensive denial to not allow so many entries in the paint and easy scores
Putting together 2 solid halves, which was rare last season, tho remarkable BU won so many games!
Taking care of the ball...reliable point guards (Wheeler, Jaquan, Richardson)
Hunger to win the Valley from start to finish (we had a 2-week lull from the seniors last season, which cost us the league title, and a MOST INCREDIBLE season)

There is some emerging discussion hinting that players who were walk-ons in 2024-25 and who still have eligibility for 2025-26 and plan to return, may not be counted towards the new NCAA scholarship limits, and would be "grandfathered in" so they don't lost the roster spot they already had.

One nationally respected recruiting website however says: "With the new proposed NCAA scholarship rules and roster limits starting in 2025-2026, the exact impact on walk-ons is uncertain and will vary across different sports and schools."
...so I guess we will have to wait & see, and maybe things will be clarified.

The next move from the NCAA will be unlimited roster spots. Let's get real, we're living in the wild west days of NCAA basketball!

If the walk-ons count towards your 15, you have zero reason to have any on your roster. The NCAA just seems to making it up as they go along. Can’t remember the last time I heard the word “academics” by the NCAA. Train wreck

the judge in the case and NCAA are supposedly working on this plan that was proposed a few months ago to protect the roster spots of the walk-ons.
The entire settlement hinges on coming up with such a plan. This is why we still see coaches vigorously recruiting all 15 roster spots even if they have walk-ons.

Here is an early 2025-26 MVC projection by Bart Torvik, whose analytic formula has proven to be pretty accurate in recent years.
His formula takes into account all the personnel changes for each team.-

2026 BartTorvik Projection

95) Illinois State
99) Bradley
103) Northern Iowa
108) Belmont
124) Murray State
132) Drake
135) Southern Illinois
164) UIC
215) Indiana State
227) Evansville
281) Valparaiso

His formula has Bradley at #2, just barely behind #1 Illinois State. It shows ILSU ranked #95 nationally, and Bradley #99. Northern Iowa is a close 3rd at #108. The MVC has 7 teams in the top 135, which is a improvement over last year.

Bradley apparently still has one opening on their coaching staff. The Director of Player Development position, which Darrell Brown, Jr. served in for the last 2 seasons, remains open. I am hearing a name that might be getting consideration as a replacement for DB.
Also, hearing of another possible change on the staff that could happen soon.
