Bears-Vikings game to be moved to Atlanta?

The Bears are the worst of all potential playoff teams not in the western divisions.

-They are 1-2 against teams currently slated as "in" the playoffs. Those two losses were drubbings.
-They have almost the weakest schedule in the league.
-They have no major injury to a starter.
-They lost both games to the Detroit Lions, save for some terrible game-changing calls by the officials.
-Their "+/-" in points is a joke for a team 5 games over .500.

All that said, the Bears will lose their first playoff game, assuming they do end up winning the division.

take it to the bank.

Anyone else take it to the bank?

Great call CE Braves Fan!! :-D

Bears Vs Packers is almost like a Super Bowl for me. No better rivalry in the game, let alone a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Should be a great game in Chicago, cold weather, hostile crowd and 2 great teams battling it out.

I wish I had taken this to the bank. It is always fun to look back at the predictions of "sour-grapes" posters, but this one is wrong on many levels.

The Bears were pretty impressive today. And Seattle can't be so bad, since they were good enough to upset New Orleans on the road.

And where did this schedule thing come from? I have heard a couple people say the Bears played one of the weakest schedule, but that is not true. The Bears schedule was closer to the top of the NFL in difficulty than it was to the worst (14th out of 32), and it was tougher than these playoff teams- Chiefs, Jets, Falcons, Packers, Steelers, Saints, and Seahawks.-
http://www.betvega.com/nfl-strength-of-schedule/

In fact, when corrrected for strength of schedule, the Bears rank as the #1 team in this NFL Power Ranking-
http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/ranking/strength-of-schedule-by-team

Overall they have the Bears ranked #4 in their Power rankings-
http://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/ranking/overall-power-ranking-by-team

And just how does not having injuries mean they aren't any good? That's just silly.

And I just checked the schedule, and it says they won both games against the Lions, and the officiating was quite correct in both.

And since when does the NFL take point differential into account?:-o

and to think some shortsighted Bears fans gave the Bears about as much respect and consideration as....
....as some BU fans give to JL & team... ;)

Actually, this NEVER happened.

REALLY!? - that website has the wins and losses based on LAST YEAR'S RECORDS:roll:
All of your strength of schedule "analysis" is worthless because those rankings became meaningless after week 1 of THIS SEASON.
Now that the regular season is over, you can see what the true SOS was.
Here is the real SOS, in case you're interested:

Note the Bears are 20th. Also note who had the toughest schedule amongst all playoff teams. Yep - the Packers.

The Bears and Packers played the same teams except:
Carolina (Bears) vs. Atlanta (Packers)
Seattle (Bears) vs. San Fran (Packers)

Trade those games and try to tell me the Bears would even be in the playoffs...

The NFL doesn't take that into account. But that doesn't stop countless websites from listing that stat when showing standings. And they list it because objective/rational people can look at that stat and draw meaningful conclusions.:-o

Well the Bears LOST that game against Seattle, so they would have needed to beat EITHER Atlanta or San Francisco to end up with exactly the same record they actually ended up with. The odds are very high they would have won at least 1 of those games (likely SF). The Bears point differential was better than every non-playoff team except San Diego. It was also better than playoff teams Indianapolis, Kansas City, and Seattle. Point differential is really helping the Patriots so far today, isn't it?

Point differential is ONE statistic and was never referenced as the end all debate stat.

The Patriots are the best team in the NFL - regardless of their point differential or what happens today against the Jets.

The Bears are not a top-5 NFC team or a top-10 NFL team.

Seattle is a joke. Better to be lucky than good sometimes... actually MOST times for the Bears this season...

The Bears are the 6th or 7th best team. In the NFC.

Actually I think most would say the Bears are one of the best 4 teams in the NFL.

Especially when within the next 45 minutes or so, there will only be 4 teams still playing. ;)

Who cares about little miniscule stats, THE BEARS WON AND ARE 1 WIN AWAY FROM THE SUPER BOWL. It doesn't matter if your the best, average or worst. All it takes is a couple good games in a row once your in the playoffs.

Packers vs Bears is a toss up. Bears have better D & home field crowd, GB has better QB and momentum heading in. Bears beat GB by 3 at GB. Pack beat Bears by 7 at Chicago in a meaningless game to Chicago. Bears also played very easy on the D in that game as to not get any injuries. If Cutler limits his turnovers again, then I think DAAAA BEARRRRSSSSSS head to the Super Bowl.

Jason

Also take into account the Jets. They were slaughtered & massacred by the Pats last month. Now they are about to go up 21-11 with a quarter left. Everyone thought the Pats would roll over the Jets again today based on past performance but now the Pats are in trouble.

Wait so the BEST team ALWAYS wins? This is not even close to being the case.

Is Washington the better team because they beat the Bears? Didn't think so.

Sure teams have bad days, but this is play-offs we are talking about. If you can't bring your A game in the play-offs, maybe you weren't that good in the first place.

I love to see all these people hating on the Bears! And all they keep doing is winning. And with every WIN, it's because they are lucky for one reason or another.

AE, who's your team? And when you answer that question I am sure we will see why you are Hating on the Bears.

Jason-

The Bears beat Green Bay in Chicago, not in Green Bay, and Green Bay beat Chicago in Green Bay, not in Chicago. And you're right to admit that it doesn't matter who is better or is worse...LOL. The statistical truth is that Green Bay is the better team heading into this game, but, that doesn't mean Chicago won't win.

And as far as what I said about "taking it to the bank" that Chicago would lose their first playoff game...

That was assuming New Orleans wouldn't be upset at Seattle (not at home like Da Coach ignorantly suggested). Truth is ignorance is what I've come to expect from Bears fans.

So, why argue using reason and logic? The conversation is not worth having if people cannot discuss things using their brain.

I think Green Bay is the better team based upon the whole spectrum of statistics (Point differential, defense/offense statistics, strength of schedule, strength of victory, etc...Actually, one of the only statistics that Chicago is better then Green Bay is in losses. Thus, they got a bye, and are hosting next week.) However, I actually am predicting a Bears victory.

Unlike ignorant sports fans, (Bears fans) I can look objectively at things.

Chicago will force more turnovers than Green Bay's defense.
The worst field in the NFL will play a negative factor somehow for Green Bay.
Mason Crosby will miss the game winning field goal with less than 1-minute to play.

My prediction:

CHI 21
GB 20

not to nitpik but the home team won both those games this year:)

WHY, OH WHY, does every thread have to become a support JL rant?? ;-)
;-) This Bears thread has been hijacked!:lol:

If the Braves, under JL, win the MVC and become a #2 seed in the NCAA, fans would be shortsighted if they didn't give JL & team respect and consideration...
