Baseball 2026

After winning the first game of the weekend series at Belmont 13-8 on Friday, Bradley lost Saturday 8-0, and again today, Sunday, 12-11.
The Sunday game looks like it was quite unusual. Bradley fell behind 9-0 after 3 innings, but then scored 11 runs in the 4th to take an 11-9 lead.
But Bradley did not score again, and Belmont scored 2 in the 8th and 1 in the 9th to win 12-11.

Bradley plays at Illinois in Champaign on Tuesday.

Yes, from watching the broadcast, Sunday's game was insane. Down 9-0, then we score 11, then we loaded the bases in the 9th without scoring, then gave up a run in the 9th to lose. As usual, we were way short of pitching.

It's good to get one win on the road, but we had opportunities to win two or three. Next year...

Bradley got a win today in Boiling Springs, NC, on the campus of Gardner-Webb Univ. They beat Campbell University 5-4 to improve to 10-43.

Bradley is now 5-16 in the MVC and in 8th place, 4 games behind the

The 2026 MVC Tournament underwent a change in the format for 2026. In previous years, the top 8 teams played in an 8-team, double-elimination format. However, this year, only the top 6 teams qualify, and the double-elimination bracket was changed-

That means the Braves have already been eliminated from the tournament.
The Braves play their last 3 scheduled games Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at home against 1st place UIC.

Bradley Baseball Closes Final Road Trip with Win Over Campbell

A high spot for Bradley's baseball season. This one raised some eyebrows in the national baseball press. A terrific win for Bradley on Sunday against North Carolina's Campbell University, which had the longest winning streak in D1 baseball. Campbell is leading its conference and has been a regular in the NCAA tournament in recent years.

It was a four-game weekend, a round-robin tournament in North Carolina.

Bradley lost two close games to Gardner-Webb University, the host. Both games ended on walk-offs as the Braves just didn't have a pitcher who could provide a shut-down 8th or 9th inning.

Perhaps no observer would have given the Braves a decent chance of beating Campbell in either of their two games. In the first game against Campbell, with all the better Braves pitchers having been used against Gardner-Webb, Campbell ran up the score, 14-3.

More of the same was expected on Sunday, and Campbell took an early lead, 3-0. But the Braves fought back with a grand slam by transfer Luke Skinner. After Gavin Thompson and Eli Lehrman pitched well, Josh Vaughn pitched 2.1 scoreless innings to close out the game for Bradley, ending the game with the tying run on third base.

It's a 1-3 trip to North Carolina, but had to be an emotional high point for the team.

The final three games of the Braves season will be this Thursday-Friday-Saturday at Dozer against the University of Illinois Chicago, which has been a surprise this season. UIC hasn't played a strong non-conference schedule, and isn't ranked highly in RPI, but has played well in conference, tied with Indiana State for first place going into the final weekend before the MVC tournament.

Good interviews with Coach Dedman and the other baseball coaches in the MVC. All together in one video. Bradley's Justin Dedman is first up.

Watch on YouTube

Dedman talks about encouraging the players to continue to play the game the right way as the season ends. He mentions players who have shown great improvement the past couple of months. He describes encouraging players to uphold the great legacy of Bradley baseball. And he describes what the coaches are working on:

"Right now we're looking to finalize recruiting for next year's team, obviously. Fundraising is a big aspect of being a mid-major baseball coach, and we're certainly getting after that. Continuing to think about what we can do better next year. We certainly don't have this thing licked, and I think in 30 years from now we won't have it licked then either. Our job is to continue to get better for our program and our team, and so we're focused on any way we can do that."

Belmont's coach is next in the video, and he compliments Bradley's team on how hard they fought in last weekend's series.
