Anyone remember?

...a program on Sportschannel about ten years ago that was a documentary about a team of American bball players touring through Europe. The show focused mainly on Bayo Akinkunle (sp?) and his efforts to sign a pro contract. During the show, the American coaches were talking about a team they would play in a few nights. They were saying that the team's top player was a kid that had NBA potential and was being looked at by American scouts. The kid turned out to be Dirk Nowitzki.

I remember after the game, the American coach asked Nowitzki to join the team for the rest of the tour. He declined.

Good show, I'd like to see that program again.

Yes, I recall it, and I believe it aired on PBS, but wasn't 10 years ago....seems like 6-7 years ago.

I heard from my friend in Chicago that Bayo plays bball in Germany and works at Goose Island during the summer.

The show was the same year that JJ's Number was retired at BU.

Yes, if I remember it was called "Over There" or something like that. It was on sportschannel....which no longer exists....I think it was bought out by Fox Sports and their regional channels....not sure on that though.

There was a lot about Bayo and I thought he was portrayed like the very nice young man I'm sure he is. I also remember footage of Nowitzki lighting up the team of American players...just launching and hitting step back three pointers. It was good stuff.

My friend did see Bayo at Goose Island and had a nice chat with him about BU.
