Angels or Devils

Quote from ESPN the Magazine Feb. 20, 2012. Page 55.

"People look at Xavier and see good guys, good program." says former Cincinnati forward Terry Nelson. "They look at Cincy, and they see the blacks, the muscles, the thugs, the non-graduation rates. It's angels vs. devils."

Where do YOU see the Bradley Braves in 4 years.... Angels or Devils??

Even tho it goes on everywhere else - there have never been claims of Bradley's players being thugs...

sure we have had a few spats and he-said-she said issues like every other school in America - but if you look at other schools and see the multitude of DUI's, assaults, fights, bar brawls, even rapes and worse....
then I think you have to conclude our program has been far closer to exemplary than the other extreme.

I am proud of our athletes and how they have represented Bradley well over the years...
A tremendous number have gone on to highly respectable professional careers (even NFL - Pollard) and positions in the community like coaches (Eddie Mathews, JJ, Anderson, Willie Scott, Jim Les, Tom Les, Daniel Ruffin, Billy Wright, Andy Bastock, Carl Maniscalco, Rick Malnati, Dan Ruffin, Chuck Buescher, Greg Berry), even judges (Joe B. McDade), broadcasters (Danny Adams, Chad Kleine, Bish), active in social work (Cello) medicine (Heemskerk, Woods) insurance (Phegley, Humbles) the financial world (Bertonili, Collins), and opera singers (James Baptist)..
I expect it'll continue this way...........

I see us as some good kids, and it is possible there could be mistakes made. I think it is wrong to think our kids could do no wrong. I also think it is wrong if YOU think they will be doing wrong for sure.

I'm not "thinking they will be doing wrong for sure." But I think it's a valid question to ask with a new coach and new philosophy coming in.

Hopefully "Winners" will be what the Bradley players will be called before too long. I'm not into the black and white, good/bad, angels/devils thing. Most people have a little of both in them. Some show it, some try to hide it.

I can assure you that as long as the current administration is at BU we will not have "devils". I like what the administration has striven for under Jim Les -- quality character kids that are good students. I'm hopeful (and confident) that under Coach Ford we will continue to attract high character kids. I'm even more hopeful that we'll attract an even higher level of basketball player. We must!

I want our basketball players to work hard, have good character, and stay out of trouble.

I don't think those things are too much to ask of anyone, basketball player or not.
