Andrew Warren

Oh I agree completely this is one horrible team and I am completely convinced it will not be much better next year but that is a discussion for another time.

It's funny houston. I was just thinking that this is the worst Bradley team in my lifetime. But you know what? It is nowhere near the least talented team in my lifetime. I honestly believe that there is enough talent left on this team that it should be near a .500 team in The Valley. Obviously, it won't be though. :(

I think it is way to late to try and instill discipline in a 5th year senior on a real bad basketball team. I think overall it doesnt matter in the least because we are not going to win many games but having Warrens rear sitting on a bench and for that matter both Prosser and Egolf isnt going to give us even a glimmer of hope to win a game if they are sitting.

This is my deal I do not get why Eastman plays. He is an ok player and would be very valuable on a good team as a role player but he really doesnt give you anything that will allow you to win a game. And to have him try to play a 4 or even a 3 and try to play on the block against anyone is silly. He should not get more minutes then Prosser.

But your right it doesnt matter at all. If we win 3 games this season in conference it is a miracle. Warren is frustrated bigtime and I for one do not mind seeing fire from him atleast he gives a flip.

just curious how you can be COMPLETELY convinced about next season...with so many things not a given...ie players...coaches...opponents...

oh wait you used "much better"...that gives you an out...how much is much better... ;)

I for one am not going to criticize JL for his handling of players..

I think its silly to do that.

the players JL plays are his choice.

Whether or not these players are any good, also referrs back to his recruiting.

Andrew is frustrated I am sure.
JL is frustrated too.

I still say I question whether AW would even make this effort if he was sharing responsibility with the other players, ie tb and sm
You have to be joking, the way Les substitutes players makes no sense, Warren is playing his as- off and should have been on the floor when we were only 6 down, Prosser needs to be on the floor with another big as it is too much to ask of him to be the only big BU player on the floor, I like Jake but because we have so many players that have trouble scoring he just adds to that mix plus he cannot guard players 4 inches taller , J.L. maybe frustrated but he recruited too many players that are not good enough to play in this conference, changes need to be made in personnel or we will be having this conversation again next year.

Ok I was not using much better as an out. I do believe that with Maniscalco and Brown this team will not be much better. .500. The interior play is ATTROTIOUS. And it has been for a real long time. Egolf is not going to get better at the 5, Prosser is not going to fill the VOID we have at the 5. This program is sorely lacking interior play, especially at the 5 position.

Until this interior play improves it is going to continue even with the addition of Maniscalco and Brown to be fighting to get to the 2:30 MVC tourney game.

And I am completely convinced Jim Les is not who should be the head coach of the next year Bradley team. MSU, WSU, CU, UNI and ISUblue have better programs then Bradley.

So actually having a real point guard playing would have no effect inside? I for one would like to see how a front line of TB, WE, and JP would fare...with a true point guard and a pretty good two guard as well...WE should not play the 5...he has been shooting the ball well and would make a nice 4...you and I see different things in regards to JP...I thnk he will be fine...we have not been able to get the ball inside...when we do JP has done some nice things with it...

There you use that much better thing...much better than 500...what does that look like?
while I am not sure about 14-4 .....12-6 would be nice about now and achievable with all available...

Just watching the game last night, it is evident that we are not looking to get the ball inside. There were plenty of opportunities for our guards to get the ball inside after a screen and we didn't even try! If and when we do get the ball inside, our bigs are not doing something as fundamental as using the glass to get the shot down. If we hammered out some basic fundamentals, this team has the possibility to win some games.

You just gave the answer why maybe we don't look inside.

Real...I love it when I am the Les defender...I have only been calling for a change for ohhh. 7 years :)

Seriously.
AW has been a defense-less player for years here. He is making a superb effort most of the time now, but only IMO since sammy went down.

I just dont feel he has been treated poorly.

JL watches practice...so does platt..so does w scott..so does jc....

I can't discount their ability to know who belongs on the floor

Why in the world would we want to get the ball inside? So we can miss 10 more lay ups. None of our bigs can finish. You have to get Egolf the ball around 15 feet he has a great jump shot around there.

egolf has a great jumper when he is unguarded..

not being critical..but he isnt exactly a scorer if his man doesnt get sucked inside

The dumb thing about our layup problem is JL has perfectly explained to us why they don't work.

A few years ago in a coaches show talking about shooting;
Paraphrased:
I tell players that the rim is nearly twice as wide as the ball, but players don't realize it unless they were to look straight down. A flat shot needs to be nearly perfect to go through the rim, but a high arcing shot has a lot of room for error.

My take:
Well guess what,JL, our typical finger-roll layup or hook shot is a flat shot, it has to be perfect to go in. But if you use the backboard, the ball comes in just like a high arcing shot, lots of room for error, thus a lot of makes.....

The way he manages floor time among players on the roster may be the most frustrating thing when I watch BU. I don't see what he sees, and just don't get his thinking. The points you mentioned above, Real fan, are all legit and have been similar gripes we've had in the past with our coach. There has to be a reason we're 0-7 besides our lack of depth. We definitely have the talent to be at least 3-4 right now.
Some will argue, but if we finish top 3 next season (ha ha), then the guys we have this season will be a big part of it. But the problem remains next year with our lack of quality bigs who can take away the opposition's low post scoring and outrebound, and a coach who's willing to put 2 bigs on the floor at the same time for 35-40 minutes of the game.
I wouldn't be convinced that if TB is playing, JE wouldn't come in to fill WE or JP's spot.

AW is having POY type of year but will probably not make 1st team due to the rest of the team! Now that is frustrating!

WHAT?! :?: :!:  Are you crazy SFP? :?: :?: AW is a shoe-in for 1st Team All MVC.

I would not bet on it! We come in last and there is no chance they give him a sniff at 1st team. Who was the last player to receive 1st team on a last place team in the Valley?

..Well Andrew won't have to worry about another Bradley candidate diluting his first team chances..

AW deserves first team...
But it is interesting..If your team finished 9th...

I know if i was a top 3 finisher I would have issue with that.

Did Curtis Stuckey make first team?
