Thanks for the Information about him. I am excited about this kid. I think he is going to be special for Bradley. I am hoping the games get televised. I would love to watch them

Almar is one of the younger kids playing in this 2023 Nordic tournament, and will be one of the youngest next weekend in the FIBA European Championships. He just turned 18 on Dec. 28, 2022. Most of the players competing are 19 and 20, and there are also some who are 21 years old.
The U20 designation is open to all players 20 and younger as of Jan. 1st.

Last year as a 17-year old, he played in the FIBA U18 European Championships, and averaged 17.9 ppg and 10.7 rpg.

The U20 Nordic Championships named their FIVE MAN All-Tournament Team
(they call it the "five-man elite team")
and Almar Atlason "was selected for the tournament's five-man elite team ,,, chosen by the teams' coaches..."
The Iceland team won the Silver Medal.

Thank you very much. I get to see a future Bradley player plus it satisfies my basketball cravings. I was starting to go thru withdrawals

Anyone else watching the game…
Almar is #11
Iceland doesn’t have a point guard, Almar brings the ball up. I think not having a true pg hurts them on ball movement. 9 turnovers in the 1st qtr

Halftime
Iceland 36 - Slovenia 35
Almar with a long 3 pointer just before half to gain the lead.
Almar with 12pt, 6 reb at half

Almar with 19 pts, 7 reb in 3rd qtr
Slovenia has a big size advantage, Almar usually guarding a guy that’s 6-10

Almar’s teammate Orri Gunnarson is 5-8 from 3pt - wonder if he’s looking to play college ball

Almar getting hot, now has 4 3 pointers as Iceland takes the lead, Almar 22 pts to start the 4th

Almar steals the ball with 5 seconds left in the game to preserve a 70-68 win
Almar with 27 pt, 9 reb, 3 asst, 2 steals, 1 block- leads all players in scoring and rebounding

Almar is listed at 6-8 and Iceland only has 1 other player over 6-6, and he only played one minute, so Almar does the bulk of defending their big guys.
And Slovenia had lots of size- 7 players 6-7 to 6-11

Iceland was outrebounded & had 18 turnovers but shot well and won
Slovenia was sent to the FT line 28 times and 3 Iceland players fouled out,
Iceland got to the line just 12 times, and 10 of those were Almar

FIBA's YouTube channel is awesome. You can watch any game or rewatch at any time for free
Here's this morning's game - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gpQIz6Kk4Y

If you only want to watch a couple plays, I suggest scroll forward to 52:45 and watch the final play of the 1st half.
The ball is inbounded under tight defense to Almar who drains a long 3-pointer and is clobbered in the act.

Then go to 2:01:40- watch Almar put the game away in the final few seconds as he grabs the ball just as Slovenia is about
to score the game tying layup...
