Don't ask my why, but I was going through some of the ABA rosters and noticed Aaron Hogg (Wichita) was playing for the Indiana Valleycats or something like that. There are a ton of other teams (I haven't looked through them yet). Do you know of any Bradley players in that league? It doesn't look too prestigious, but it seems like the rosters are filled with guys from respectable college programs.

I think Rob Dye was playing in a similar league a few years back, and even led a team to a championship. I don't think it was the ABA, but I am not sure.

A couple corrections to that list, of course you have to add Cellus,
Patrick, but also maybe Danny Granger and Joah Tucker,
since they have Mike Suggs listed and he left to play elsewhere before finishing at BU.

and just who is VOICE Winters? :wink:
 
The ABA has announced that the Peoria franchise has invited 14 players back for a 2nd tryout session at the August 26.

Here are the players invited back--

The next tryout is still open to new players, but I agree, the guys invited back don't excite me much. I thought I might be interested in going to see the Peoria team, but if this is the quality of player they'll have, forget it!

Other than Michael Stewart, not a single other player with even a remote connection to Bradley, Illinois, ISU or the MVC or Big Ten. Are they nuts? In fact, other than Howard Nathan and Willie Coleman who had remote connections to DePaul and the NBA, there aren't even any of those guys who played above the lowest level of Divsion I.

And who is Julian Gorens? And why do they list him as playing for the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA? He must have played on a summer league team with an affiliation. When I looked him up in a google search, he looks like maybe one of the better prospects among that list.

The LA Times did a story last week on what a joke the new ABA has become. More than 50 franchises have folded since 2000, five of its top teams defected last week for the CBA, and three vice-presidents have resigned their positions in the last three months....

Interviews with about 20 former ABA owners, players and executives, as well as e-mails and legal documents show a league with little executive control. The ABA has no centralized record-keeping to track statistics, such as scoring averages, rebounds and assists. That chore, mandatory for all teams, was regularly ignored when teams couldn't afford stat-keeping software.

Last season, only seven of the 32 ABA teams finished their full 32-game schedule. Some teams, such as the Inglewood Cobras and Las Vegas Rattlers, played fewer than five games before folding.

Despite the league's requirement that teams play in venues with 3,000 seats or more, ABA clubs routinely book high school gymnasiums, play for fewer than 100 people each night and field rosters of players more suited for an after-school pick-up game than a professional contest.

what else does sergio have to do??? last few times ive saw him hes been playing ball at hausler and also told me he used to sell used cars.... doesnt sound like a promising career to me
 
I would think with the connections Sergio and Wayne McLain have, Sergio could have gotten a decent college assistant job. That's how every young guy starts.
Nobody at Sergio's age expects to get offered a good head coaching job.
This ABA thing could be a career killer.

Can anyone find an example of a successful coach who got their start in the ABA?

Ummm....

I know he is a Peoria product.

But what is he doing hanging out at Haussler?

And isn't there a fee to get in there and play? I know it is free for students. But don't Alumni even have to pay a fee to get in?
