Wichita St...........8-3.......19-4
Illinois St............6-5.......15-7

Evansville..........0-11.......6-15

We need Evansville to pull off the upset at Creighton so we can climb into a third place tie! Who would have thought 6-6 at this stage of the season might be enough for third (assuming ISU red loses at ISU blue as well)?!

I actually think that might be our season end standings, although I think Southern IL might move up a spot or 2. Seeing as how we still have matchups against the top 4, it's going to be tough to move into 2nd or 3rd with other teams having an easier schedule.

Well if this is how it turns out, at least we'll be familiar with what time we play in St. Louis ;-)

We have ISU,UNI and Wichita ST. left to play at home, if we cannot beat these teams at home then our chances in the tour. are not good , lets win on saturday in Evansville and then think about our next victim after that game.

Does anybody know if any of these games are televised? Really hoping the WSU-UNI game is because that game should be really good

Here is the broadcast info on all 4 games tonight-

The Illinois State at Indiana State is televised on Comcast Spotlight- Comcast cable channel 74 in Peoria, and Comcast 102 in Chicago (same channels as Bradley games).

The Wichita State at UNI game is televised by these stations- CFU (cable system in Cedar Falls), KWWL (NBC in Cedar Rapids-Waterloo, Iowa), and KWCH (CBS in Wichita, Kansas).

The Missouri State at SIU game is broadcast by Mediacom cable in Carbondale and southern Illinois region.

The Evansville at Creighton game is televised by NET-1 (PBS) in Omaha only.

Thanks DC

Go figure... the ISU/ISU game is the only one available on channelsurfing... and the only one I can actually watch on TV! Hoping that the WSU/UNI game pops up on there soon...

ISUred loses @ ISUblue..72-65.

Osiris fouls out at the end and finishes with 6 points. All from free throws. Nice D!

Dinma had another good night. Around 20pts I think.

Here are the updated current standings:

Well, there looks to be a potential for one sure NCAA Tournament team, two NIT teams and maybe six teams in other postseason tournaments! If the season ended today UNI gets the NCAA Tournament bid, WSU and possibly ISU red get the NIT bids, while CU, ISU blue, BU, MSU and SIU all go to the CBI/CI.com tourneys. Drake can still play their way into one of those tourneys. If CU, ISU blue, BU, MSU or SIU finish third with at least 11 conference wins, they could probably take that NIT spot away from ISU red unless ISU red finishes in a tie for third. So the Valley will be well represented in the postseason, just not sure if these are the tourneys that you want half the league to be in. But they are better than nothing.

Also, ISU blue, MSU and SIU still could play their way into an NIT spot, but ISU blue has the best shot of that right now.

WSU is closer to the bubble than people think.

And no one else in this conference has a prayer of a shot at the NIT. None. Or at least it's going to take some separation by someone to be 3rd solo by a game or two.

Creighton won't be in the NIT unless they run the table. Had we won our home games we'd be a shoe-in for an NIT bid, but what's done is done. UNI and perhaps WSU dance, and the rest are CBI/CIT fodder barring a late miracle run by BU or CU to the NIT. There will be no NIT for ISU red, ISU blue, Drake, MSU, or the Braves most likely unless we run the table out and make the title game in St. Louis. With the CBI and CIT taking a very poor pool of teams, I have a hard time considering those a real 'postseason'. Let's just focus on finishing as high as we can in the MVC and positioning ourselves as good as we can for St. Louis.

tiebreaker?

tiebreaker?

The teams tied at 6-6 are obviously listed in order of overall record. How would the placings look based on tiebreaker points to date?

Recall that the first tiebreaker is always the teams' record in head-to-head competition with the teams it's tied with. So Bradley would win any tiebreaker with Drake because BU beat Drake twice.
After that, the next tiebreaker is the point system-
http://www.mvc-sports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=7600&ATCLID=274386 (scroll down to see point system)

Two-way Ties
  • Records in head-to-head competition are compared, with the higher seed going to the team that has won the most games against the other.
  • If head-to-head competition does not break the tie, the deadlock will be broken by a power-rating system, using league games. The team among the tying institutions with the better point total will receive the higher seed.
  • In the event the tie cannot be broken, the seeding shall be determined by RPI.
Multiple Ties
  • If three or more teams are tied, regular-season competition among the tied schools shall be pooled into a "mini round-robin." Teams shall be ranked according to their position in such a round- robin.
  • In the event this process does not solve the multiple ties, the deadlock will be broken by a power-rating system, using league games. The team among the tying institutions with the better point total will receive the higher seed.
  • In the event this process does not resolve the ties, the seeding shall be determined by RPI.
POWER-RATING SYSTEM
League Win...............Road.....Home
vs.1st-Place Team- 20 Points 19 Points
vs. 2nd-Place Team-18 Points 17 Points
vs. 3rd-Place Team-16 Points 15 Points
vs. 4th-Place Team-14 Points 13 Points
vs. 5th-Place Team-12 Points 11 Points
vs. 6th-Place Team-10 Points 9 Points
vs. 7th-Place Team- 8 Points 7 Points
vs. 8th-Place Team- 6 Points 5 Points
vs. 9th-Place Team- 4 Points 3 Points
vs.10th-Place Team- 2 Points 1 Points

Note: If there is a tie in the standings, a team’s record against the combined tied teams is used. (if Team A and Team B tie for first place, a road win against Team A or Team B will be worth 19 points and a home win vs. Team A or Team B will be worth 18 points.)

Bradley does not have any wins against the top 3 teams (UNI, WSU, CU), so that will hurt them in a tiebreaker, since those are worth more points. You can try to figure out where the tiebreaker stands now, but it will change with each game.
