2026 NBA Draft- former MVC player picked in 1st round

The 2026 NBA draft 1st round is tonight, Tuesday, June 23.
The first 8 picks went the way ESPN's and many other predictions forecast. Here is ESPN's mock draft--> LINK
BYU forward AJ Dybansa went #1 to the Washington Wizards, Kansas guard Darryn Peterson went #2 to the Utah Jazz, and Duke forward Cameron Boozer went #3 to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Chicago Bulls picked North Carolina's 6'9" forward Caleb Wilson with the #4 pick, as was expected.
And Illinois freshman guard Keaton Wagler was picked #5 by the LA Clippers.

The Chicago Bulls also had the #15 pick, and selected Dailyn Swain, a 6'8" wing from Texas.
With the #16 pick, the Memphis Grizzlies picked former Drake star and 2025 MVC POY Bennett Stirtz of Iowa. Then Memphis reportedly traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder for two 2nd round picks.

A couple more former MVC guards were picked in the NBA Draft 2nd round last night-
Former Indiana State guard Ryan Conwell was picked 7th in the 2nd round (#37 overall) by the OKC Thunder, but then was immediately traded to the Miami Heat. Conwell left Indiana State after his sophomore season then played one season each at Xavier and Louisville.
Former Belmont guard Ja'Kobi Gillespie was picked 12th in the 2nd round (#42 overall) by the San Antonio Spurs. Gillespie left Belmont after his sophomore season then spent one season each at Maryland and Tennessee.
