2025 BU commit- Matthew Zobrist

announcers noted that Zobrist is playing with a leg injury but didn't go into detail.
His shot is off and he is not moving well. Hopefully it is not a serious injury but against a very good team like Kankakee,
the injury might be the difference-maker.

Yep, we reported about Matthew Zobrist's injury last week after the win over Dunlap. His leg injury is obviously affecting his shot. It's way off, and most of the shots are short. And other than Jonah Funk, who's having a nice game, the other Metamora players haven't stepped up much. As a result of Zobrist's limitations, Metamora was forced to play a zone defense the entire first half and into the 2nd half, and Kankakee capitalized by hitting a bunch of threes. Now they are in a man-to-man, but Kankakee is still getting good shots and making them.
Metamora down 9 now (53-44) with 3 minutes left.
 
Metamora made a run in the final 3+ minutes with Zobrist making a couple baskets to cut the Kankakee lead to just 2 points (53-51) with under a minute to go.

Update- game going to overtime, tied 53-53.
 
Metamora was trailing 53-41 with 3 minutes left, then scored the final 12 points of the 4th quarter to tie the game.
In overtime, Metamora scored the first 6 points to take a 59-53 lead. There is now 1:40 left with Metamora shooting free throws.
 
Metamora scored 20 straight points to turn a 53-41 deficit into a 61-53 lead in overtime.
Kankakee is back within 4 (64-60), with 15 seconds left.
 
Final score in OT- amazing finish down the stretch and in OT....Zobrist nailing FT after FT...
