2025 and beyond recruits

With things being a little slow the last few days, let's speculate on whether Bradley will land any more recruits this spring. The coaches (including those now departed) have done a great job with the 2025 recruiting class- 4 terrific-looking freshmen (Zobrist, Richardson, Wheeler, Seastrunk), and 4 transfer portal recruits (Smith, Huibregste, Wol, Yu) who look like they will help fill the holes left by last season's seniors leaving.
But in this PJ Star article from May 9, Dave Eminian said, "Bradley is also seeking a developmental player at the center position."
Interesting, since the last player Bradley landed back on April 27, was Kai Yu, and that description seems to fit him, but, he's already burned a redshirt year. So is Coach Wardle looking for another big man who might redshirt?

One possibility might have been a recruit that Bradley had previously offered last September, Simm Marten-Saadi. He committed to Drake, but de-committed after the coaching change there. However, he just committed to Wyoming-

There are still a number of D1 big men in the transfer portal, and this thread includes some high school and juco big men who remain uncommitted.
Personally, I think the team could use another backup big man, and not a redshirt candidate. Meta is a bit prone to fouls, and Corey isn't really a true "5" player. So that leaves Kai Yu at the center position. Does anyone feel comfortable with that? Can he guard MVC big men like Chase Walker?

I wouldn't say Meta is foul proned, in 34 games played he had a total of 73 fouls, an avg of 2.14 fpg. Now that was with avg minutes of little over 16 minutes per game, an up tic in minutes being imminent could increase his fouls per. But I'm not going to be too concerned, the growth of Timo could come into play here also, he may become the next guy Wardle wants to try and mold into a Rienk Mast like he tried with Almar.

Agree with previous post as we still need another front line player. Preferably one with experience who can contribute right away. But still would consider a developmental player. Is Stefan Cicic still being recruited. Have not seen anything posted about him lately. Any latest on Duke Deen and Christian Davis as to their status. Wonder when the NCAA will rule to determine if they can come back or not.

We need at least one more big man. Would love to get a physically heavier guy to guard that ISU kid. Cicic would be my preference, but can’t see him wanting to redshirt. More than a little worried who is going to provide a steady scoring presence inside other than Meta.

No I'm not comfortable with our post situation. I think we need a 6'8" or 6'9" banger...230lbs or better that can defend and rebound....if he can catch a pass and finish that would be a bonus..lol. But we need somebody with some strength...I know they are tough to come by but there a some available.

I think you fit that bill, DR1! Suit up, brother!

But could Corey Thomas be that guy? I hope so. Our staff is working now & all summer with him to put on weight, lift, get stronger, and make him hungrier to grab every rebound and become a leader on the team next year.
Gotta believe it's one of the reasons Brian Jones was brought back into the coaching staff, as he's worked with big men everywhere he's been, even in the Big Ten when he was on Steve Alford's staff, w/Phil Fayne at ISU, and recently at ETSU where they outrebounded their opponents by a significant margin.

"Jones spent seven seasons as an assistant at Iowa under head coach Steve Alford, working with the front court players on a team that won two Big Ten tournament titles and reached postseason six times."

I hope so. I like Corey, and he has a big upside with his shooting ability. If he can be more consistent, he could be that guy.

Cicic used his redshirt this last season, he would be a redshirt freshman this season 4 years available. A troubling thing with him is last year when we were recruiting him he was 215lbs and then blew up to 270 over the summer, that large of weight increase could have played into is injury and play prior to redshirting. Since Wardle wants a developmental player, Cicic would by definition be that guy but he does not have a redshirt year to use.
