2020 and Beyond Recruiting Targets

A new name-
2020 juco RayQuandis Mitchell- 6'4" sophomore PG/SG now at Otero Junior College. He is originally from Blaine High School, in Blaine, Minnesota, the same hometown and high school Patrick O'Bryant came from. He spent his first year at University of Idaho where he averaged 4.4.ppg.
http://verbalcommits.com/players/rayquawndis-mitchell

Through Otero's first 6 games, Rayquandis Mitchell is averaging 18.3 ppg and shooting 51.4% from three, 5 rpg, and 4.5 apg.

One-time Bradley recruit from Otero junior college in Colorado, Rayquawndis Mitchell, just committed to UIC and new head coach Luke Yaklich.
Mitchell finished the season with an average of 15.6 ppg and he shot 40.6% from three.

Yaklich also got a commitment 2 weeks ago from another former Bradley recruit Teyvion Kirk, a transfer from Colorado State.

And also tonight, another one-time Bradley recruit, former Iowa State forward Zion Griffin, just committed to UIC.
https://twitter.com/joehoopsreport/s...36640224280579
Griffin was a highly recruited 4-star recruit out of HInsdale South HS who is a sophomore at Iowa State. He never got a chance to play much at Iowa State. He likely will have to sit out a year and will have 2 years of eligibility left.

The player I was hinting at is Terrence Lewis, who just left Iowa State, and Bradley has been in contact with. Bradley was very involved recruiting him out of high school-
https://www.bradleyfans.com/forum/sp...terrence-lewis

He has one more season of eligibility, so his recruiting might depend on whether there are factors that could result in a waiver to play right away.
Here are his career stats- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...terrence-lewis
Bio- https://cyclones.com/sports/mens-bas...ce-lewis/10432

Terrence Lewis is transferring to University of South Alabama.

Kent can really shoot it with a nice stroke. Knock on him has been lack of strength on his frame. He has been working hard on being more aggressive with driving to the basket this year, rebounding and defending but profiles as a catch and shoot or dribble to set up his mid-range game player. Avila profiles as a very good college player. He is a true 6'8" and listed in some places as 6'9". Rated as a top-ten sophomore in the state of IL. Bradley would be crazy not to be all over this kid. AJ Casey (top Sophomore in IL) of Tinley Park and formerly of Simeon attended the same Arbor Park Jr. High with Robbie Avila and they have played together on the Meanstreets AAU circuit for years. Robbie got the best of AJ last night as the Oak Forest team is much better than Tinley. Oak Forest is now 20-1 on the season and ranked #18 in the Chicago Sun-Times and are very well coached. They will have to get past Hillcrest and Morgan Park to advance in their sectional. Robbie has outstanding fundamentals and is fun to watch. Great footwork. Very high basketball IQ. Great inside and outside game. He is not flashy and cannot jump out of the gym like Casey but Avila is a better basketball player. Avila is shooting about 70% from the floor on the year and shoots at a high % for FT and 3's as well. Great vision and good passer. Both are good kids as well. On a side note, Kent's sister, Janae is quite a talent. She is a freshman on the Oak Forest HS varsity and put up 30 points and 10 boards in their first game of the season...as a freshman. I will be at the game tonight as well as Oak Forest plays Lincoln Way East HS at the LW West Showdown.

Slightly off topic, but Bradley incoming recruit Jayson Kent's younger sister, Janae Kent, just finished her freshman year at Oak Forest HS. Some recruiting sites already have her rated as the #1 high school girls recruit in Illinois for the class of 2023, and she is getting recruiting interest from some of the top women's programs in the country. This tweet reports that she had grown to 6'1" with improved athleticism. She is destined to become one of the top players in the country for the class of 2023. Maybe another Candace Parker (who also had a brother who played at Bradley)?

Bradley is still in the running for 2021 point guard Jadin Johnson, a 6'3" PG from Millard North HS in Omaha, NE, who we mentioned last September-

And 2021 Kyle Ross is a new name- a 6'7" forward from Merrillville, Indiana. He started last season at Andrean HS, a private Catholic school in Merrillville, but transferred and will play his senior season at Lake Central HS in Merrillville.

A 2021 point guard that Bradley had followed but did not offer, and is no longer following after the commitment of Connor Hickman, Kamari McGee, has given an early verbal commitment to Brian Wardle's old school, Wisconsin Green Bay. Seems like a good recruit for their new head coach Will Ryan.

It is their 3rd commitment for 2021. The previous two-
Small forward Brayden Dailey- http://verbalcommits.com/players/brayden-dailey
Power Forward Cade Meyer- http://verbalcommits.com/players/cade-meyer

We're hearing a number of new names, mostly prep school players for 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Here are a couple more 2021 names-

2020 Alec Oglesby- 6'5" shooting guard from The Rock School, Gainesville, Florida. He is originally from Atlanta area.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i_qGQq7Ds8....

2020 Bradley recruit Alec Oglesby ended up at Cleveland State, where he played the 6th man role in his freshman year. He averaged 4.3 ppg in just 16 minutes per game, but he shot 43.3% from three. He has entered the Transfer Portal.
He seems like the type of 2-guard prospect Bradley might be interested in again.

One new name- this recruit was on an unofficial visit today (Sat. 10/5) at the Bradley open scrimmage at Renaissance Coliseum.

2021 James Dent- 6'4" shooting guard who is a junior at Springfield Southeast HS this year. He is an emerging talent who has not gotten much publicity yet, but that will probably change this season

One time Bradley 2021 recruit James Dent, from Springfield Southeast HS, who visited Bradley for an unofficial campus visit back in October, 2019, and for a game in January, 2020, has signed to play in 2021-22 with Moberly Community College in Missouri.

Wasn't he the more productive of the two players when he was playing with Kent?

Avila was just a sophomore when Jayson Kent was a senior at Oak Forest HS. Kent was the star of the team and the top scorer. He lead the team with 17.8 ppg, and 43.4% from three. But it was evident that Avila had the potential to become a fine player.
https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/p...eseason-preps-power-rankings-no-24-oak-forest

With Kent gone this past season, Robbie Avila became the top scoring option and averaged 25.5 ppg

Thanks DC, I knew I had heard Avila's name back when Kent was being recruited. If I remember correctly I think I remember reading comments that some thought Avila might not be athletic enough to be a high D1 player so that might give us a good chance to land him.

One-time Bradley recruit Alec Oglesby spent a year at Cleveland State, then transferred to UNC-Wilmington. As a sophomore at UNCW this season, he has missed a couple games due to illness and appeared in only 6 games. He just left the team and entered the Transfer Portal again reportedly for "non-basketball issues".
At Cleveland State, his numbers were pretty good for a freshman, but this year at UNCW, he has played very little and his numbers are not so good.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...6/alec-oglesby

He was a 3-star recruit out of prep school, but it will be interesting to see where he ends up now.
