2019 Bradley commit- Ville Tahvanainen

Ville played his 5th game with his pro team HBA-Marsky Helsinki in the Finnish 1st Division League. HBA-Marsky lost a close game to Oulun NMKY 97-94, to drop to 2-3 on the season.

Ville's team, HBA-Marsky, does not have any import players, but Oulun NMKY starts 3 American professionals who played more minutes than anyone else, and they scored 80 of their team's 97 points, and had 33 of their team's 41 rebounds-

Ville Rahvanainen's Helsinki Basketball Academy played another game today in Nassau, and it wasn't much of a game. They clobbered a team from the Bahamas 154-40-

No stats available yet.

Ville's team faced a really tough opponent and lost 77-75
but a bizarre travelling call on an inbounds pass with 32 sec left really cost them - as the play followed a made basket...then the ensuing inbound by St. Thomas More the guy travelled just as much as it was not called. Tough ending as Ville nailed a 3 at the buzzer but they still fell 2 pts short.

the entire game from start to finish is on YouTube - he wears #19 with his HBA team

#8 Mikael Jantunen, the Utah recruit, scored 29 in this game

the starting center on Ville's team is Aapeli Syrjamaki
he is a 7-1 17 year old with a lot of potential..

he was in high school in the Washington DC area last year - https://www.prephoops.com/2017/03/prospect-spotlight-aapeli-syrjamaki-2018/

but returned to the Helsinki Basketball Academy this year so he could play and train all year long...
Like most Euro guys he has a choice to go to college or stay & play in the pro leagues...
Their backup center is 6-11 Aleksi Liukko but both are very "raw'...

Ville T.-in Caribbean Tip Off Clasic

I was able to watch the 1st three qtrs. of Ville Ts team(HBA) vs St. Thomas More. Unfortunately, what I saw of Ville was a little disappointing. He played Small Forward (#4). In general, he didn't show much quickness and while I understand that he is supposed to be a great offensive player, his defense is not good at all.....Slow and not very tough. He's going to need a lot of work when he gets to BU.
Ville shot 4 threes and missed three. He didn't play with much energy at all.
I really hope I am wrong since we all have great hopes for Ville but he has a long way to go based on what I saw.

teammate Perttu Blomgren had 18 pts, 8 rebs and Alexsi Liukko had 8 pts, 10 rebs while 12 different players scored

Ville's team won again today, 92-51
..his playing time is less in the big blowouts - so he only got 21 minutes...
but he was his team's leading scorer with 15 pts, 6 rebs

Ville's team wins again - their 3rd straight win and 6th in their last 8 games..
87-72
Ville had 15 pts, 5 reb, 6 asst and their team can pull into 3rd place
Recall that their team (HBA stands for Helsinki Basketball Academy) is all amateurs, mostly high schoolers playing in a professional league in Finland against teams that have mostly pro players

Ville's National Division A League team played well but lost to one of the top pro teams in the league today..
89-75, but neither Ville nor teammate Mikael Jantunen, their two best players - were NOT with the team today, as they have left to play
Friday (vs. Russia) and again Monday (vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina) with the Senior Men's National Team in their quest for a spot in the FIBA World Cup.
