2011 coaching carousel

Kent State has concluded all their interviews and is expected to name their new coach this week-

Interim head coach and KSU assistant Rob Senderoff
Ohio State assistant Jeff Boals
Syracuse assistant Rob Murphy
Xavier assistant Pat Kelsey
Michigan State assistant Dwayne Stephens

Note the comment at the end-
Ford was back in Kent on Friday to clean out his office at the M.A.C. Center. He returns to Bradley today to begin putting together his first staff with the Braves.
 
Here's a couple interesting factoids for those who claim it's easy to find head coaches to hire that will win and win often...

"...Since ..Krzyzewski and Valvano entered the league, ACC schools have hired 28 new head coaches.

Only four - Cremins, North Carolina's Roy Williams, Maryland's Gary Williams and Wake Forest's Dave Odom
- have been able to win 90 or more conference regular-season games.

Six of the 28 coaches, including newcomers Steve Donahue at Boston College and Jeff Bzdelik of Wake Forest,
did not or have not received an NCAA bid.

Only seven of the 28 took their teams to more than four NCAA tournaments."

...so it looks like it's even hard for ACC schools to find a winner..

In: Geno Ford
Frankly, Les should have probably bolted after reaching the Sweet 16 in 2006. He didn't and eventually got run out of his alma mater after nine seasons. The Braves have one of the more passionate fan bases in the Missouri Valley, and Ford is a solid hire who had done well at Kent State, keeping the Golden Flashes at or near the top of the MAC. The Valley has failed to garner any at-large bids the last few years, but it's still a step up from the struggling MAC. This is a step up for Ford.
 
it is a huge step up -- his fan base, his home attendance, his recruiting budget, the passion of his fan base, and his earnings have all suddenly jumped 3-fold, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Rob Jeter is reportedly on the campus at University of Miami today, after meeting with officials from Miami in Wisconsin yesterday. An announcement is expected shortly.
