Yeah it's interesting when you look at things like that. Of course this is not a great ten year average, but we still have that Sweet 16 and two NIT trips in that span. Obviously the next goal is to try to start a streak of top 3 finishes with a Valley championship thrown in there once in awhile. :)

Depending on where Illinois State and Missouri State finish in relation to Bradley this year, over the decade Bradley and Illinois State would both be fighting to avoid being a play-in team over the decade.

Yeah but........

What's more disturbing is that we haven't even had a fluke MVC Tournament title run in 21 years. I am not a hard person to please...just give me one of those!

Here are the same numbers over the last 4 full seasons (from the BU fans' perspective of allowing for the last 4 years that Jim Les has had his own recruits).
Note that there have been only 3 teams with a better average finish than BU, and UNI is only slightly better based on last season's tie for #1.-

Also in that time period, 5 other teams have either won or shared a league title, and 6 teams have finished higher than we have (in the top 3). So, once again it proves we are firmly entrenched in the abyss of mediocrity.

Noy very much separating 3 through 8.

Excellent point Buesch.

It should also be prudent to point out that of those schools 3-8, all of them except for Bradley finished dead last at least once during the period, and every one else has finished 1st or 2nd at least once during the same cycle.

Good point Coach. We are at least trending better within the last four seasons. Let's hope that can continue this year with at least a 3rd place or higher finish. :)

4.50 Bradley

8.25 Indiana State

agree.....but this is the time span when we have heard even more complaining....

Correct...the FIRST 4 years were a flyer as the program got established under JL.

The NEXT 4 years needed to show us something more then skightly above mediocre performances.....and it hasn't.

AFter 8 years wouldn't you want a top 3 finish or a Valley title? I know Jim would. :)

Of course, every fan wants that. I am tired of some people suggesting that anyone, especially the great fans here, are satisfied with mediocrity. That has never been the case. But I, and most fans, don't see that the program is so bad, as some try to portray it, that we need to blow things up and start over again.

Can someone explain to me how finishes of 4,5,4,5 the last four years is considered trending upward when we are essentially averaging a 5th place finish over the decade?

I see no place except in your post, where anyone has ever used the terms "trending upward" or even "upward"...
all I see is a discussion of your "matrices"

I agree, and blowing things up now would be a bad thing even if people wanted that to happen. Les has his most talented group in four years and bringing in a new coach now would only lead to defection of at least half of these players and lead to four or so more years of REAL mediocrity, as in Evansville and Drake type of mediocrity! I don't think any Bradley fan would want to suffer through four or five years of 9th or 10th place finishes. At least finishing at or a bit above .500 shows we are really close, and we have a good shot of finishing even higher than 4th this year. I think next year will be the breakout year, but I know getting rid of the coach now would certainly not accomplish that.

Nope, I say let's leave well enough alone! :D

I understand your point here...

But JL is in year 8. How long do you give him?

The issue is that IMO he has shown nothing to indicate a change.

I mean, how many coaches in MBB fire their assistant in the middle of the year.

I don't even care about the firing, but it just shows weak.

I'd like to see us go after a true big! Maybe a few of them. Until we get a nice guy at the 5 we'll probably continue to be t=in the middle of the pack unless we get lucky a recruit another AP or HH. Do not tell me WE or even JP are real 5's. Last time we had a real 5 we went to the Sweet 16!!!
