2 MVC games tonight 1/19

anyone else besides me who wouldn't be surprised if the Sycs pick up a road win?
I also think UNI might just pick up a road loss...

and there's some other great games tonight...
I would love to see the Northwestern at Ohio State game, but will miss it as I am going to see some HS basketball...
and PU at Illinois.....this is a chance for Illinois to gain a little more respect...
(btw-- Bobby Knight is doing the Michigan/Purdue game Saturday at W. Lafayette, for ESPN.
Their board posters are organizing a "nice" welcome for their long running rival..if you know what I mean ..;))

Is it time to just root for UNI to lock up the title and chase a 2nd or 3rd? If you breakdown the conference standings by home losses and road wins (0 points for a home win or a road loss, +1 for a road win -1 for a home loss) the standings are UNI +4, WSU +2, BU CU IlSU InSU MSU and SIU at 0, DU -1, EU -3. A home loss by WSU and a road win by BU would put the two teams in a tie and set up a possible run for second.

I am not convinced of that...
there are 11 games left in the conference race, and even we are only four games out, three other teams are only 2-3 games behind...
and I am convinced we can beat them when they come to Peoria.
UNI also still has to play at Wichita, Indiana State, Missouri State, Drake, and Bradley....

Part of me is rooting for UNI because BU could (not likely) make a run at WSU for #2.
Most of me is rooting for Wichita to have a chance to get Wichita in the NCAA tourney (they must also win their BB game) and to see a race for the championship.

UNI will win the league...if they win tonight, they may just go 18-0. Tonight is the toughest test they will face the rest of the season.

I will be shocked if Indiana State wins tonight...the Bears have been dominate at home all season, and I still believe ISU Blue will be playing Thursday night in St. Louis.

I'll take MSU -9 and UNI +2.5 tonight.

Its over...we're not winning the conference...with saying there are 11 left and we are ONLY 4 out...no, its that we're ALREADY 4 out...

UNI will win @ Indiana St., Drake, and possibly Missouri State.

They could even win here...recall we lost to them last year here...

That being said, I hope UNI and Wichita win most of their remaining as I think we at this point are playing for 3rd, and in reality, that would be an incredible accomplishment considering how this season has been shaken so far....

Tomorrow is a must win though...payback game!

I'd like to see BU finish as well as they can. IMO, that means that the top 2 teams are going to have to come back to the pack a bit. IF, UNI plays the way they did against us, then they will lose a couple of games...I see 2-3 conf. losses for them. I think BU could win out at home....notice I said could!...and take a couple on the road, so I can see us winning 7 more conference games. That would probably mean a middle of the pack finish.

I know others on here feel differently, but I really don't cheer for any other conference team to do well, for the most part.

You're right.

But just for conversation - we are NOT completely out of it. We won't win the MVC and we likely won't get 2nd. But it's wide open after that. Jerry Palm's Projected RPI with Projected Conference record has this:

(Proj RPI - Team - Proj Conf Record)

18 UNI 18-0
61 Wich St 13-5
86 Mo St 10-8
104 Bradley 10-8
91 Indy St 9-9
129 ISU 9-9
149 Creighton 9-9
181 SIU 6-12
205 Drake 6-12
268 E'Ville 0-18

T...

I am all for optimism but BU goes 11-0 UNI goes 7-4 and that just gets a tie. Tough sell.

I think a run at top three would be a great acomplishment for this team and carry some mo into St Lou.

P.S. Tornado, If you lived in Wichita would your sign on name be Tornader? Just a thought.

not sure...but whenever you see my name anywhere with a capital "T", then I assure it is NOT me...
as some people who have juvenile agendas of wanting to discredit this board or me, have been posting elsewhere under my name..
but they are stupid enough to not realize I never use a capital "T"...never .............
so they prove themselves to be incompetent enough to not even be able to cheat or lie well...

Hard to say who I am pulling for. A win by UNI makes 2nd place that much more attainable. However, a win by WSU furthers their at-large resume and increases the chances of a 2 bid league. I think WSU wins tonight, and the top 2 start to separate from the mess in the middle.

Great college basketball atmosphere @ the UNI-WSU game...should be a good one! I'm going for uni...#22 and 16 in a row!

MVC displays some ugly hoops... ranked MVC team (UNI) losing on the road and hard-pressed to get to 50.

Bye-bye ranking.

And you won't get a sniff back again.
