2026 Portal transfers

Drake's Jaeshon Thomas to the portal...but I am stumped how he would have any eligibility left....
He spent two full seasons at juco, 28 games in 2022-23 & 27 games in 2023-24 - (and NCAA is no longer giving the juco waivers)
then a full season (33 games) at Charlotte in 2024-25, and another full season at Drake (33 games in 2025-26).
He averaged 9 ppg playing 21 min per game- starting 13 games this past season.

in the two games that Bradley played against Drake and clobbered them both times, Jaeshon Thomas was Drake's only bright spot!
When we beat them in Peoria by 27, Thomas had 18 points, 3 reb, 2 asst.
When we beat them soundly in Des Moines, and Alex hit his first 9 3-pointers, ending with 29 pts, Thomas had 5 pts, 3 reb off the bench.

Perhaps he's doing what Christian Davis did, hitting the portal in hopes that some yet resolved lawsuit will get him that juco waiver this year,
but I tihnk we'd have heard by now if that werere the case.

Like you said, he's probably doing the same thing Ben Schwieger of Drake is doing, and Bradley guys like Duke Deen and Christian Davis did last year. They are out of eligibility, but they enter the portal and hope some move by the NCAA (like the possible 5-years of eligibility change) allows them more eligibility.

he's Romanian but holds Italian citizenship and has played extensively in Italy.
I have to think Timoty van der Knaap knows of him, maybe we could get a foot in the door.
Buca is a couple years older than Timoty but he is just a freshman at K-State.

This one is a bit unusual...
Murray State sophomore Layne Taylor, who was the Racers' starting point guard and 2nd leading returning scorer behind Roman Domon, and very likely would have remained a starter for the next 2 years, was in the portal and just committed to Arkansas State.

He is from Arkansas and played his freshman season at Central Arkansas. That seems like a step down to me. Arkansas State had a pretty good 2025-26 season in the Sun Belt, but they have only one NCAA appearance and no NCAAT wins in their 58 year history in D1, and that was 27 years ago (1999).
Maybe Murray State's NIL isn't so good?

Seem to me that they dislike their coach.

weird...
Layne Taylor was FULL TIME starting point guard on a decent Murray State team (4-seed in MVC, ~Top 100 NET) playing 26 min per game
in front of over 5,000 fans every night....in TOP-10 conference...

and he transfers to Arkansas State (betcha can't even name the city they are in) who have a NET 50 points worse (7-seed in Sun Belt), play
in a conference that's weaker and draw a little over 3000 on a good night....

I guess he wanted desperately to play closer to home but Jonesboro AR is still 5 hours from his home.

UIC lands a big transfer from Ohio State, Gabe Cupps:
Cupps was Ohio Mr. Basketball '22 and a 4⭐️ recruit coming out of high school, and started 23 games as a freshman for Indiana before only appearing in 4 games the following year.

He came off the bench for OSU this year, averaging 1.7 points on 12.2mpg. OSU fans did NOT enjoy him, but he should be a star on this UIC squad. He'll be a junior with two years of eligibility remaining, I believe.

Finally, someone other than Bradley lands a portal transfer.
Drake gets a commitment from Dre Kindell, a 5'11", 168 pound junior point guard from Wichita State.
He played 2 seasons at Barton Community College, 2023-24 and 2024-25. Barton CC is the same juco as Bradley commit Noah Williams is now at. He never played with Noah Williams, since 2025-26 is Williams first season at Barton CC.
He transferred to Wichita State and played in 36 games this season (2025-26) as a reserve. He did not start any games, but played an average of 17.3 mpg. He averaged 5.9 ppg, 1.6 rpg, and 2.3 apg, and he shot 45.5% overall and 34.3% from three.

Another player who Bradley recruited, but did not offer, has hit the portal-
Jonah Funk played at El Paso-Gridley for 3 years, then at Metamora HS last year with Matthew Zobrist. He landed at South Dakota as a freshman this year. He did not play and is eligible for a redshirt year and would have 4 years of eligibility.

I know we need big men, but this kid from France just hit the portal after a terrific freshman year at UNCG. He shot 52.2% from three on 3 attempts per game, and as I've said before, you can never have too many shooters.
