Brian Wardle interview

For those who don't know, Jeff Bidwell, who did that interview with Coach Wardle, is the radio broadcast voice for Murray State basketball and football. He does a great job promoting Murray State sports, but he now is doing a lot more to promote Missouri Valley sports, too, especially basketball. He owns and runs a couple websites-
https://www.racerbasketball.com/ - a website which has nice coverage of Murray State basketball
and he does "Morning in the Valley", a regular podcast covering MVC topics. It exists as an X.com account (https://x.com/MorningInValley) and a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@MorningInTheValley), where you can find archived older podcasts.
Bradley fans will find it worthwhile to follow him on those sites.

Very nice talk with our coach Brian Wardle! I'm pleased this podcast of Morning in the Valley brings more excitement for the MVC! I'm also Happy about Bradley playing in opening games this year in field of 68! The highlight picture in X featuring Bradley and Bully is just beautiful and can only help Bradley 🏀 get more recognized Nationally! GO BRAVES!

Pretty much the same things that are preventing every other mid-major from becoming the "Gonzaga of the (fill in the blank)"
Gonzaga is an anomaly. There just aren't any other similar mid-majors that have achieved the kind of consistent success they have, despite being a small (about the same size as Bradley), private, moderately funded school with a small arena (6,000 campus arena), located in a fairly remote part of the country (Eastern Washington), and in a small mid-major conference (West Coast Conference). I'm not sure what their secret is. It is a testament to their coaching and their success in recruiting.

Butler was halfway there then someone pulled the rug out from under them
Brad Stevens pulled the rug out by going to Boston. If he had followed Mark Few's example and stayed at Butler forever, who knows what they may have accomplished.

Stevens leaving definitely didn't help, but I think the biggest difference between Gonzaga and Butler is that Gonzaga stayed in the WCC which allowed them to keep winning the conference when they got strong to start and keep momentum. Butler went to the Big East, and now are a small fish.

Bradley at 96 projected first by college sports Madness! At least 1 outlet has given us a very positive outlook! I was kind of surprised also that Murray State was left off the 144 list! When Brian said he seemed surprised that some outlets had Bradley up in first for the Valley, he must have known sports Madness would project them first in the valley!
