Follow-up summary on 2025 MVC baseball-
With a late-season surge, Bradley finished tied for 7th in the MVC with Indiana State, and received the #7 seed by virtue of their 2-1 season record against the Sycamores. Unfortunately, they were eliminated from the MVC Baseball postseason tournament in their opening game by Belmont by an 11-7 score. Elvis Dominguez retired, and Bradley is still searching for his replacement.
Murray State beat Missouri State in the Championship game to win the MVC Baseball Championship and get an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
They were assigned to the Ole Miss regional, which included Murray State, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, and Western Kentucky.
In the Regional, Murray State beat Ole Miss and then beat Georgia Tech, before losing to Ole Miss yesterday.
Ole Miss came into the Regional ranked #10 nationally, but this week they were dropped to #15 after losing to Murray State, who were the lowest seeded team in the regional.

So today Murray State played Ole Miss again for the championship of the Regional (both teams were 2-1 in the double-elimination Regional) and a chance to advance to the Super-Regional, where they would play Duke, who already won their Regional, in a best-of-three series.

Game is over, and Murray State pulls off the huge upset, beating #15 ranked Ole Miss for the second time in the 4 days to win the regional on Ole Miss' home field. Final score in the Championship game- Murray State 12 Ole Miss 11

Murray State advances to the Super Regional round where they will play #2 ranked Duke in a best of 3 series.

It was an entertaining game, Murray State a huge underdog getting 12 runs & 19 hits.
One notable thing however - was how gracious the Ole Miss coach was in losing, vastly unlike what we’ve seen from other coaches like Florida, Oregon, and Duke
 
I would like to see BU put more resources into baseball and become a consistent threat, but the weather creates a yearly disadvantage when it comes to recruiting.

Murray State pulls off the upset of Duke, winning 5-4 to clinch a trip to the 8-team College World Series in Omaha.

The College World Series is June 13-22 or 23, and is double elimination. Murray State will play UCLA in their opening game (see bracket below).

The announcers repeatedly seemed stunned that a team from the MVC could possibly be this good!
BUT - last year, in 2024, Evansville made it all the way to the SuperRegional and was just one game away (losing to the eventual Champion Tennessee) from making the College World Series.

and in 2023, Indiana State went undefeated all the way to the final games of the SuperRegional and also was one game away form the College World Series, but lost a close game to TCU who got to play the entire Regional & SuperRegional on their own home field.

I am sure our baseball team and new head coach were watching and I hope they draw some inspiration - Murray State is a very good team,
They hit well and have good pitching.
 
We heard all about Coastal Carolina's baseball program when we get to the Myrtle Beach tournament last year. Pretty nice campus and apparently the baseball team is always pretty good. Surprised to see a Valley team in the bracket! Go Murray State!
 
Bradley head baseball coach Justin Dedman hires a new assistant coach-
Curtis Kellogg- who has been an assistant coach at University of Central Arkansas since 2021. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at D2 Arkansas Tech for 2 years (2019-2021), and prior to that, he worked in the Seattle Mariners minor league system.
Coach Kellogg was born and raised in Sonora, California, and played baseball at California State University, Stanislaus, and Merced College; where he was an all-conference infielder and Gold Glove recipient.

Arkansas was a #3 seed. They finished the season 43-13 and ranked #6 in the country. But they lost their first game 4-1 to #6 seed LSU.
