New BU commit Gustavo Guimarães

So it begins.....Bradley with three 7' players....👍👍👍👍
Wonder if this has ever happened in D1 before, any roster with three 7' players ?🫤
This also allows Thomas to play the 4!🎯🎯🎯

Just keep throwing 7-footers at opponents and making opponents uncomfortable under the basket. We won't have to worry about Meta fouling out because we have 15 7 footer fouls to give. Brilliant!

Great news, with all the players our staff has been in touch with it was only a matter of time. Question now is will they redshirt him or does staff hope he can contribute somewhat his first year here.

Keep in mind this guy in all likeliood will be redshirting this next season. He fits Wardles developmental big to redshirt and develop perfectly.

This source lists several good mid-major offers that Gustavo held -

Another source lists offers from- Albany, Chattanooga, Drexel, Jacksonville, & Stetson.

In the most recent PJ Star article by Dave Eminian, he stated that Coach Wardle was looking to sign "a developmental player at the center position."
Coach Wardle used that same description for Jackson Seastrunk, which later was clarified to mean that he intends for him to redshirt his freshman season. So, I could be wrong, and things could change after the coaches have a chance to see him play, but I interpret the "developmental player at center" to mean that Coach Wardle is leaning toward Guimaeres redshirting the 2025-26 season.

I believe both will redshirt, as we know redshirts can be removed if the need to play them transpired.

Bad boys of BU?
He looks quick for a 7 footer. I’m excited. Just to know we’ve got 3 7 footers signed is really surreal. Just imagine if we can just get one of them developed into a stud center, we could own the Valley.

Dave Eminian has an article about Gustavo Grimaraes-

Grimaraes' high school team, Riviera Prep in Miami, won the Class 2A Florida state championship this past March, for the 3rd straight year.
As Dave Eminian mentioned, Gustavo was injured and had knee surgery, and did not compete in the state tournament this year. Here is an article, and note the photo of his team shows Gustavo (far right) in street clothes.

Yes, redshirt players can participate in any team practice or activity. The NCAA used to not allow redshirt players to travel with the team on road trips. But that rule might have changed, since I have attended road games in recent years and have seen redshirted players with the team at the road games.
Some old-timers might recall this story... Danny Adams was redshirting his freshman season (2002-03, Jim Les' first year as coach), when Danny Granger missed the team bus to Evansville for a game in January, 2003. It was far from the first time Granger was late for a bus or a team meeting, so Les told the driver to take off without him. Granger got ahold of Danny Adams, who fortunately was still on campus because at that time he was not allowed to travel with the team. And because Adams had his own car on campus, he was able to drive Danny Granger to meet up with the team at the Beef House at Exit 4 on I-74 in Indiana. Granger went on to have a terrific game at Evansville, though Bradley lost. But there was a blowup on the bus coming home between Granger and Les, and Granger never played another game at Bradley.

back to Grimaraes... I see the word "developmental" appear numerous times in Tweets and on message boards but whose description
is it, where did that term originate? Is there a clear-cut quote of our coaching staff using that word to describe any of the players?
Not that it's a big issue, but I can't recall any of our past players ever described with that term. Only the media and message boarders
seem to use the term.

I wonder where the word "developmental" came from. Is that an official classification of player as in - freshman, sophomore, walk-on, starter,
captain or "developmental player".
Where the term is used in the same discussion as Coach Wardle, it does not appear to be his quote or his way to describe his players? Don't we also want Wheeler, Zobrist, Richardson, Kai Yu, and even Meta to develop?

When it was used in connection with Jackson Seastrunk and Grimaraes, the word appears to just be Dave Eminian's description,
and not necessarily a quote. - LINK, altho Wardle was quoted as saying Seastrunk will redshirt.
