2025 BU commit- Matthew Zobrist

Metamora hosts their Shootout tomorrow - 5 games - 1pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm, 6pm & 7:30pm.
Metamora & Evanston play the 2:30pm game. Evanston is coached by Mike Ellis, long time IBCA Hall of Fame coach,
who won 2 State runner-up trophies while coaching at Richwoods. (anyone remember Richwoods 2006 with Bill Cole &
future Bradley Brave Ryan Phillips getting beat by 2 pts in OT by Simeon & Derrick Rose? Then in 2010, Richwoods
with Mason Alwan & TJ Cole losing to Hillcrest & Eric Gaines who went to Kent State to play for Geno Ford,
and Richwoods finished 30-3)

correction, Metamora plays at 4:30pm

Evanston misses a three point attempt at the buzzer, Metamora knocks off another Top-10 4A opponent,
coming back from 13 points down.
Final score Metamora 61 - Evanston 58
Matthew Zobrist was in foul trouble much of the game, and sat out a bunch in both halves.
Unofficially, I believe it was mentioned that he had 18 but will have to wait for an official report.

Hey - trivia question...
When Matthew Zobrist plays next year, he will NOT be the first player at Bradley who is the SON of a former player.
Can anyone name at least 2 other players who also had fathers that played for Bradley?

Also- there could be yet another one on the horizon...
The 8th grade son of a BU Great is reportedly doing exceptionally well for Dunlap Middle School.
Any guesses who it might be?

I can think of five father/son combos:

Joe & Jerry Stowell
Dan & Daniel Ruffin, Carl & Sam Maniscalco, Don & Eddie Matthews, Bill & Audie Rudiger

there's a live stream of the Morton - Metamora game that starts in a few minutes
and as they were talking to the head coach of Metamora, Justin Dehm, Coach Wardle walked right in front of him,
talking with Danny Grieves

update-
halftime
Morton 31 - Metamora 24
Zobrist is 3-6 from 3-pt, has 10 pts

...further update-
Morton wins 59-42

the game was tied at 41-41 then Metamora went as cold as ice. Too much dribbling & passing, declined decent shots and even tho they have
a Division I 6-9 guy down low, he virtually never touched the ball inside the 3-point arc. It was kind of puzzling.

Another stellar game tonight by Matt Zobrist. He had 31 points in Metamora's 66-62 loss to Normal Community.

Metamora won the Mid-Illini Conference title tonight with a 59-58 win over Dunlap.
Metamora finishes their regular season 25-6, and 13-1 in the conference.
BU commit Matthew Zobrist had a game-high 25 points for Metamora.

here's a video clip from last night's game showing one of Matthew Zobrist's shots - it's a long, fade-away buzzer beater just before the 3rd quarter ended - and as the broadcaster states, he also did the same thing at the end of the 2nd quarter. This is really great, clutch shooting and I am excited to see MZobs bring this to the Hilltop- https://x.com/ClutchSportsIL/status/1892034304911270139

I am excited to have Matt coming to Bradley. He is a good shooter with great court awareness. He is a little loose dribbling the ball but that will get corrected real quick

No idea - care to share??? I would guess someone from the 2006 Sweet 16 squad?

I'm not local - don't hassle me! ;)

Yoda had the answers hidden in his post-
Joe & Jerry Stowell
Dan & Daniel Ruffin, Carl & Sam Maniscalco, Don & Eddie Matthews, Bill & Audie Rudiger

Thanks DC - I am guessing the Ruffin combo considering the time when these guys played at BU...or maybe Sammy has a son named Carl, which I thought was his Dad's name.
