MVC tourney

The St. Louis Embassy Suites showed no rooms available as of this morning, but I notice now they are showing several types of rooms available.
However, be ready for "sticker shock". Here are their prices. Friday night of next week for a single queen-bed room is at $577 per night with a non-refundable reservation and a Hilton Honors discount- https://www.hilton.com/en/book/rese...-08&departureDate=2024-03-09&room1NumAdults=2

The Embassy Suites, the Bradley team hotel, has dropped their prices each of the last 3 days. Today, they just dropped their room prices to as low as $277 per night, which is much more reasonable. And they appear to have lots of rooms available, including several room types. - https://www.hilton.com/en/book/rese...-08&departureDate=2024-03-09&room1NumAdults=2

So if there are any fans who booked at a higher price or booked at a different hotel, consider cancelling (if you can) and re-booking at the Bradley team hotel. The reason I prefer to stay at the Embassy Suites is that they offer the best free breakfast, an evening cocktail reception, and access to all the team events.

Another update... After reducing their room prices each of the last 3 days, the Embassy Suites just raised their prices back up higher tonight. It still appears there are rooms of all types still available. - https://www.hilton.com/en/book/rese...-08&departureDate=2024-03-09&room1NumAdults=2

The Drury Inn Union Station is where its at. The only thing missing is the team events, which isn't anything special anyway. You park for the weekend and can walk everywhere. Otherwise there is breakfast included and reception hour. Plus you have the aquarium and other Union Station things. Maybe the one down side is hoofing it up to Ballpark Village and back, but easily doable if able bodied.

I've enjoyed staying at Union Station before, its been a few years, last time was during COVID, but it was good. Rooms are nice and the old train station is pretty darn cool. Bar & Lounge area is cool, and the breakfasts are amazing.

Union Station has changed a lot in the last few years. Many of the stores and restaurants are gone, but they've been replaced by a great aquarium, a transportation museum, and several other entertainment businesses like mini-golf, zip lines, a rope & climbing course, a mirror maze, and a 200' Ferris wheel with great views.
Did anyone know that some scenes from the movie "Escape from New York" were filmed at Union Station in 1981 when the facility was closed? - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_Union_Station#Filming

Game #1 MSU vs MSU. Da Bears started out scoring the first 5 points and haven’t trailed leading at the half 27-14. Murray St is shooting just 5-27 overall, 0-7 from 3, and had 6 turnovers

For 30 minutes Murray St was having one of those nights. They had made 7 of their first 45 shots, 0-12 from 3. They’ve made their last 3 shots, and their first 3, and are trying to come back. 9:00 left and they are down 41-29

Missouri Stste outscored Murray State 19-6 in the last 9:00 to win a date with ISU Blue st noon tomorrow. A pretty pathetic performance by Murray, an inspired performance by Missouri.

Anyone know what the lowest scoring point total at the Valley tourney is?

Murray State couldn't make shots. They shot just 18% in the first half and 21% for the game. Missouri State played well, pulled away and lead 27-14 at halftime, and built the lead to 60-32 before Murray made a three at the end of the game to make the final score 60-35 - https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=518990&

I don't know what the lowest score in the past was, but 14 first half points, and 35 total points have to be close to a record for fewest points.
Murray State was a 2.5 point favorite in this game, and the over/under was 139.5 points. :)

In 2007 Indiana State scored 38 points in a 59-38 loss to Creighton. I t looks like Murray just set the mark for fewest points.

The second game is starting to look similar in some ways to the first game. Valparaiso couldn't hit their shots, and Belmont has opened a 24 point lead, 38-14 with 7:47 ;eft in the first half - https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=518991

Valpo is just 5-21, and 2-12 from three, while Belmont has bee hot, going 15-23, and 4-8 from three.
Malik Dia has 12 points in just 9 minutes of playing time. Belmont will be well rested for their Friday game against UNI.

Not many fans came to Session 1. Maybe 500 total. The band members and cheerleaders for both Belmont and Valpo outnumber their fans.

Valpo must have shot their wad in the Sunday win over ISU Red as they are losing 81-42 with 6:16 left.

Belmont won 86-61. Dia led Belmont with 22 points and 10 rebounds. All 12 guys scored for Belmont who got to rest their starters for over the last 10:00 of the game which could be a big help in their game against UNI.

Belmont lead by as much as 42 points in the second half, but then with a lot of deep bench players finishing the game for Belmont, the final score was Belmont 86 Valparaiso 61 - https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=518991

Terrible shooting by Valpo. They shot 22-80 (27.5%) and 6-33 from three (18.2%). Leading scorer Isaiah Stafford was just 6-22 from the floor and 2-12 from three. Freshman of the Year Cooper Schwieger was 5-15, Darius DeAviero was 3-13, and nobody else stepped up to keep them from an embarrassing loss.

Anyone want to defend their statements justifying BU's loss to Murray State earlier this year? They are a bad team and the loss at Murray St. was terrible imo.

Ouch... Murray State has a bunch of talented players and is capable of playing very well. But for some reason, their players seem to have a Jekyll and Hyde personality on the court. They shot 53% and played extremely well in beating Bradley back on Nov. 29. Losses like that happen to every team. To Bradley's credit, they bounced back and had a terrific season. Murray State's season was up and down, but more down than up. Note that Murray State did beat Missouri State twice during the regular season, including a 24 point blowout in Springfield. Today, they were terrible.

Speaking of blowouts, here is an interesting halftime score.... Pepperdine announced earlier this week that they have fired their head coach Lorenzo Romar after a 12-19 season (5-11 in the WCC). He will continue coaching until the season ends.
But today, in an opening round game in the WCC Tournament, Pepperdine is leading last place Pacific 56-9 at halftime - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401625642

Pacific shot 3-28 in the first half.
