I am hearing rumors that there might still be some possible turnover of Bradley's coaching staff. One of Bradley's assistants might be a candidate for an open position elsewhere.
Nobody wants to see changes when things are trending upward, but we certainly wish our guys good luck!

Howard University, one of the only 2 remaining open head coaching jobs, appear to be filled today.
The job has been offered to Columbia assistant Kenny Blakeney, and he will reportedly accept.
The only remaining open job now is University of North Dakota.

ISU's Dan Muller hires a new assistant to replace Brendan Mullins who went to SIU

and he lures away Indiana State assistant Marcus Belcher - who also played and used to be asst at SIU as well as SIUE & Evansville
Good thing Bradley didn't try to hire the guy because Kirk Wessler surely woulda dragged this old story out

Maybe most head coaches would be concerned about negative publicity regarding hiring assistants with a history of DUI's, but realize this is Dan Muller. His players and staff probably have more past DUI's than any coach in America. They have had assistant coaches with DUI related arrests, and current assistant Chris Duhon even was suspended and then got another arrest before he resigned from his assistant coach job at Marshall. And the number of former players with DUI's is too long to list again.

speaking of which... Milik Yarbrough had a court date yesterday for that last arrest of running down a pedestrian then speeding off and failing to render aid...heck - if that had been a Bradley player under JL or Wardle the PJS would have sent Eminian, Vlahos and Dave Reynolds all down there with a camera crew to cover the court proceedings...

BUT - because of that arrest while he was on TWO different court supervision sentences for his prior TWO arrest (the one where he beat up his "girlfriend" & driving without a license) - the court has revoked (Petition to revoke) his supervision for the criminal reckless conduct and now he will also be resentenced for that crime, too...
As noted before, he somehow got a good lawyer that asked for repeated delays and pushed all this well past the end of the basketball season so he won't ever have to face any further team discipline.
The court record won't be updated until Thursday morning to show what happened during Wednesday's proceedings - but with a good lawyer, he will just get more probation or more supervision...

Yarbrough did finish up at the Portsmouth invitational...and might get some chances to work out for NBA teams...
of the 60 players there on six teams - Yarbrough finished tied for 42nd in scoring at 8.3 ppg and tied for 30th in rebounding at 5 rpg
His FG% was 36th best out of 60 players and he was just 1-8 on 3-pt attempts.

His official camp measurements were: Height 6-5 (6-6 with shoes), Reach 8-9.5 in, Wt. 222 lb, Wingspan 7-1.5 in

update - pretrial hearing set for June 3

I have talked with ISU fans who think they will elevate assistant Luke Yaklich to head coach (former ISU assistant)
..and his name is already being mentioned at the top of the list of candidates - LINK LINK
however - I think Porter Moser's name will come up again as well as Brad Stevens, Lavall Jordan & a few other names...

ISU's Dan Muller hires a new assistant to replace Brendan Mullins who went to SIU

and he lures away Indiana State assistant Marcus Belcher -...

It is announced officially and ISU hires Indiana State assistant Marcus Belcher

Belcher (who has issues with DUIs) replaces CHRIS DUHON (who also has issues with DUIs). Duhon is out as assistant at ISU after only one year. This comes as a surprise, as there had been no prior suspicion of Duhon leaving.
Head coach Dan Muller had just hired Brian Jones two weeks ago to replace Brendan Mullins who left to go to SIU.

I suspect Belcher will have a few new leads for recruiting that Muller desperately needs - since ISU has four open scholarships and nobody waiting in line to fill any of them.

Officially announced-
Redbirds hire Indiana State associate coach Belcher
https://www.pantagraph.com/sports/college/illinois-state/redbirds-hire-indiana-state-associate-coach-belcher/article_69c20111-5ff3-5a59-b5bf-0470ed3a935e.html

So Marcus Belcher leaves his Associate Head Coach position at Indiana State to take a lower assistant coach job at Illinois State. This is the second coaching hire at Illinois State in the last couple weeks that appears to be a step down. Strange.
Muller previously hired Brian Jones (formerly head coach at North Dakota) as a replacement for Brendan Mullins, who left to join Bryan Mullins at SIU. And now Muller says that Marcus Belcher is being hired to replace Chris Duhon, who Muller says is leaving because he "wants to pursue possible opportunities in the NBA."

Duhon's departure was unexpected, and not announced until after Belcher was hired. And the reason Muller gives seems a bit hard to buy. Why would Duhon voluntarily leave when he does not have another job? IMO, the excuse about pursuing opportunities in the NBA is bogus. An ISU insider suggests that Duhon was originally hired to help with recruiting, but he hasn't delivered. There may be other issues, too. But will Belcher help with the recruiting failures? In his previous assistant coaching jobs at SIUE, Eastern Illinois, Evansville, and Indiana State, he was not exactly known as a great recruiter. And in the article, Muller never says anything about relying on Belcher as a recruiter. One thing is clear, Muller goes through more assistant coaches than most people go through toilet paper.

Dan Muller's is just finishing his 7th season and he will be working with his 12th and 13th new assistant coaches, assuming all three (Brian Jones, Marcus Belcher, and Brian Reese) stay.
Here is a list of Mullins' assistant coaches so far, unless I am missing someone--- Rob Judson, Torrey Ward, Dana Ford, Luke Yaklich, Dean Oliver, Jeremy Ballard, Brian Reese, DeAndre Haynes, Brian Collins, Brendan Mullins, Chris Duhon, Brian Jones, and Marcus Belcher.

By comparison, next season will be Bradley Head Coach Brian Wardle's 5th season, and he will be working with the same 3 assistant coaches he had from the start.

One other piece of news in the article....ISU will play Cincinnati in the Paradise Jam first-round game at 4:45 pm (CT) on Nov. 22, it was announced by tournament organizers Monday.

Muller might have moved too soon...
TWO of his really valuable former assistants (Yaklich, Haynes) are at Michigan and they will be hiring a brand new head coach - who very likely will want to hire his own assistants.
So quite possible in a few days, those former ISU assistants could be looking for jobs...

Duhon seemed liked he didn't want to be here most of the year. He needed a job to repair his image and he got that. As far as assistant turnover, most of these all moved up and took better jobs. Also one of these assistants died. Damn Muller for letting that happen.

no doubt several did move up and kudos to Muller for finding such assistants that are so good, that you lose them right away.... but it still looks like a game of musical chairs on the ISU coaching staff....

.... the last couple hires are not guys clearly moving UP in any real significant way - both Jones & Belcher are making what a lot of people see as lateral moves, coming from programs that had very few winning seasons recently and were poised to possibly fire them soon.
But the classic in well-travelled assistants was when ISU hired Mike Jackson - who stayed just two weeks then went back where he came from, before jumping around several other places, then DBO at Providence, then fired there - even the Providence press used the term "musical chairs" -

Wouldn't it serve the ISU basketball program to have a little more stability in the coaching staff? Whatever happened to loyalty?
So many seem to be using ISU as a stepping stone - or is it possible so many simply find that they do not want to stay and work with Dan Muller - have you not heard rumors??

To fill the open spot on Loyola's coaching staff, Porter Moser hires
Jermaine Kimbrough - an assistant at Wyoming for 3 years, and also has been assistant at Nevada & Cleveland State
He also coached at the juco level and has junior college connections and is a Cleveland native.
