ISU's schedule hurts the Valley again

I actually like what SIU did. They could've been better on the cupcake portion of the schedule, but they did a good job filling the schedule with medium-tier opponents who will bolster the SoS.

Illinois St is supposed to be in the Cancun tournament next year, right? If so, here's this year's field as a comparison:

Northeastern vs. Saint Louis
Southern Miss vs. East Tennessee State
Ole Miss vs. Texas State
Colorado State vs. Appalachian State

If that's the caliber of opponent you're PEAKING for, that's a problem. That's a tournament that should be supplamental for the SoS, not the dominating force of the SoS.
Unfortunately you have to win the games too. That will be SIU's problem this year.

I wonder where all the ISU posters are? Usually they are here within a minute defending the team. I guess they are just as embarrassed with this schedule LOL.

Haven't you heard.....they won't "pimp themselves out to the big boys" and apparently the "big boys" are afraid to play them at redbird. Oh.......and scheduling is hard!

actually most of the Redbird fans have been pretty up front in their distaste for the bad scheduling

Saint Louis U. fans are pretty ticked about their schedule...
Actually, they did land 8 non-con home games but many are softies...and they have only 3 non-conference road games..
Regular season home games against Chicago State, Rockhurst, Austin Peay...although they do have Georgia...

Rhose Island fans are also unhappy with a schedule that has only 5 non-conference home games, and only 13 home games total

But if you don't care about the fans, and if you just want to make as much money as possible...then do what Presbyterian is doing...
They are playing ONLY ONE non-conference home game (Jacksonville State), and everything else is a guarantee game on the road...
12 non-conference games away from home..nine are true road games, going to places where they're sure to get solidly whupped like
Kansas State, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Auburn, Wake Forest...

There is no possible way to justify our schedule. For the past 2 years, myself and countless other ISU fans have anxiously awaited the schedule with the feeling that it couldn't be any worse than the previous year's. We have been wrong each time.

I don't get it, and it's atrocious. By far the best schedule Jankovich has had since taking over was during his 1st year, and most of those games were already in place by Moser. There isn't 1 single ISU fan that I know of that isn't upset and embarrassed over a schedule like this, and that will show in the amount of empty seats at the arena too. With the exception of UNLV and maybe Ohio U (who gained a little extra prestige with their upset win in the tourney over G'Town last year) I wouldn't expect any more than 5K to attend any of these games. Probably less than that.

All we can do is win the games that are on the sched, and then pray some miracle happens and we get a better schedule next year. I won't hold my breath though.
