Braves win 67-65!!!!

I disagree with us calling a timeout after their 3. A timeout gives them time to set up a better defense. We are tied...work the ball around and the worst case is you go to overtime...got 2 decent looks with one going in for the win!

No, I was saying Drake was the one that should've called that timeout right away. I'm surprised they let the end of the game play out that way.

The blood on Chris' shorts was from a cut on his elbow that happened when he inadvertantly hit Young in the grill. He needed a bandage for that.
Young did bleed a little from his mouth, and went out of the game for a very short time. But he quickly returned and I think he played the rest of the game. The tooth was recovered, and it can be replaced in the tooth socket, and usually reattaches if done within a few hours. I suspect they are seeing a dentist tonight for repairs. He'll need a root canal later to remove the nonviable tooth pulp, but the tooth should be salvageable.

Ouch! Sounds painful! Well at least I know I'll be fine if I ever lose a tooth. :D

Well it's a win I guess and at least keeps us in the middle of the pack. Also, someone better get Warren to the gym more, his shot has just been awful this Valley season, shooting about 32%. Somehow he managed to throw up 2 air balls on wide open threes. 1 air ball went long and 1 fell short resulting in a shot clock violation. He's also not really banging the ball to the lane and getting fouled like he was earlier in the season. Maybe he is getting tired down the stretch here and his minutes should be limited more.

Pretty big pre season expectations put on AW. Perhaps tried to do too much. Focus of opponents defense every night. May be hitting a wall in the dog days of the Valley after being away for so long. Hopefully nothing serious.

That would be my guess as well! He did put on a few pounds and without the proper fitness level it is just natural your body is going to protest.

Warrens problem is he is so soft. He will not drive the ball because he might get hit. Now the other teams are taking it right at him when he plays defense.

Young fractured the crown of his tooth off at the gum line. I was told by a staff person on the Drake bench that the remaining portion of his tooth was avulsed (ie, displaced into the bone). I did not see what was left, but he may be a candidate for an implant. He is a tough player, but you can see the importance of mouthguards. He was not wearing a mouthguard.

Someone needs to find out what's going on with Warren? ....

Andrew will be fine...

Here are his averages since the beginning of conference play..
35 minutes per game - 14.7 ppg - 4.7 rpg - 25-59 (42.4%) from 3pt

here's what one person optimistically predicted (last summer) we'd get out of Andrew-
26.8 minutes – 12.5 points – 3.4 rebounds – 39.1% 3pt

I'd say he's been a big help and has exceeded expectations.....

I have always been told if your a scorer and your jump shot is not going in, then put the ball on the floor and find a way to get to the line and get those free points from the free throw line.

If you look at his last 8 games only, starting with MSU.

Warren is averaging 30 minutes a game

Shooting 26-79 from the field - 33% including his last 3 games of 4-14, 3-12 and 3-11

Shooting 14-36 from 3 - 39% but his last 3 games he is 6-19 - 31.5%

He is shooting in the last 8 games 23-24 from the line - 96% But last night he did not shoot one free throw and take out his 8-8 v Evansville he has gone to the line 16 times in the other 7 games combined.

He is also averaging 2.75 turnovers per game... 22 in those 8 games.

It is pretty obvious he has lost confidence in his ability to go to the rim and take contact. A guy who shoots the ft that well needs to be living at the foul line. Not settling for shots that do not initiate contact.

If it were me he would be sitting on the block and playing two man games and forcing the defense to get the ball out of his hands or he is taking the ball to the basket and again forcing the defense to deal with his length and if fouled his ability at the free throw line.

But settling for jumpshots right now is not working for Warren. But watching is play and lack of desire to go into the lane tells me he is not trusting something. Go back to before he broke his wrist two years ago he had no problems taking the ball HARD to the rim and finishing. I can not recall the last time he went hard to the rim and finished with a dunk.
