  • Texas Rejects Pac-10 Offer

Supposedly in a letter from UT to the AP. Seems good. Maybe it will slow some of this process up, if only for a couple or years (or hours).

Heard some of that.. But also heard that the Big XII TV deal requires giving Texas a disproportionate amount to get the interested in staying... If I were the Oklahoma schools that wouldn't keep me in the conference. Be nice if the Big XII became the Big X and the Big Ten became the Big Twelve, but I don't think this thing is over yet.

Looks as if Oklahoma and Texas A&M are staying as well.

Texas will remain a Big 12 Conference member, the university announced on Monday.

Still see a split happening with or without Texas. IMO Texas made a deal where they won right away but the remaining schools will be paying for in the future. The Pac 10 has a great chance of catching up to the Big 10 when it comes to TV revenue, which will make it that much more attractive. Texas will then reach out and ask for it to be part of it. The Pac 10 renewal TV deal comes up within a year. If I was the Pac 10 I'd tell the Oklahoma schools that they can either stay where they are at and be dominated by TX and never get another invite from them or head over now.

I expect the Pac 10 to pick up Utah. There is way to much money at stake for this merry go round to stop. Missouri must really feel like a complete reject.

The next World Cup will be in Brazil! Maybe a good excuse for the wife. Not!

                I can see this now.

OOB: Wife I need to follow the USA soccer team to Brazil because they need my support. It is my patriotic duty. I would take you with me but I do not think you would have fun there.

Wife: OOB over my dead body. I know you by now. You'll drink too much and who knows what. I'll need to save you from yourself so it's either take me or not at all.

OOB: Well Beni will be there with me to make sure all is well.

Wife: Beni! You are not going! We know what happened to him last time he was in Brazil.

Does anyone else think it's really stupid how the Big 12 now has 10 members and the Big Ten has 12?

I thought it was stupid that the Big Ten had 11 teams.

It appears the Big 12 commish promised the remaining schools that they would be getting more money staying in the Big 12 where 10 schools are splitting the revenues instead of 16. Also the commish promised Texas he wouldn't stand in their way if they wanted to make their own network deal ala Notre Dame. Be very curious to see what the other 9 members feel about that. Also according to the NCAA you have to have at least 12 teams in your conference to have a football conference championship game so I don't think this conference realignment roller coaster game is far from over.

Texas survives no matter what it decides. KSU, KU, Baylor and Iowa State are even more second class citizens than before. But maybe they are all right with that given the alternatives. I still don't see the B12 lasting long-term.

If the decision by Texas is to remain in the Big-12, and nothing is certain yet, then the Pac-10 is expected to extend an offer to Utah-

Incidentally, Bradley is scheduled to play Utah on Saturday, December 4.
