This is what Bradley Athletics needs

Doesn't Bradley have anyone like this? Illinois grad Larry Gies donated $100 million to Illinois Department of Athletics. That will go a long way toward funding any NIL deals Illinois makes.

In 2017, Larry Gies also donated $150 million to the Illinois College of Business, now named the Larry Gies College of Business.

We discussed this in the work chat yesterday, and I am not 100 percent would move the needle THAT much. We might reach the Gonzaga level, but we will always abe a mid major. Sure we could maybe get some better players, but anythign can happen. They suck, injuries, etc...

But yeah, that would be crazy if someone gave that amount of money to BU Athletics. I can't even fathom having that much, let alone donating that much to SPORTS. Insane.

I agree that Bradley will never be asked to join the Big Ten or SEC or any of the major football conferences. But now in the NIL era, money is everything. With a sizeable amount of money (like that $150 million gift) they could land players a cut above any other MVC team, and would dominate the conference and be a national name, like a Gonzaga. That alone would be satisfying. Maybe that could eventually lead to being pursued by other top non-football conferences.

How much did the Markin family donate to Bradley because it had to be an enormous mount of money.
in the 90's David Markin & family donated over $1 million to upgrade & put lights at the outdoor tennis facility on Bradley Ave.

then in the 2000's they gave over $8 million to build the on-campus Markin Recreational Center (and altho a subsequent University
President repeatedly claimed credit for securing that donation, & building the facility, it was actually all given and the funds ALL RAISED to build the Markin Center & constriction was 90% completed BEFORE said President was even hired)
Then the family gave millions more while David Markin served on the Bradley Board of Trustees, but once the checks had all cleared, Joanne & Cross cancelled the Men's Tennis program, so the Markin family has never been heard from nor uttered the phrase Bradley University since.
David Markin passed in 2013.
