More player movement at ISU?

Looking at his twitter account, I don't think he committed. Some recruits do this to get "love" from a fanbase. I remember a few years ago an Illini recruit would do things like this to get more followers and people talking about him, then he committed elsewhere.

yeah - I considered that as a possibility - and the fact that there IS NO other confirmation of a comittment makes sense, then...

but some ISU fans on their board think he has committed and
Dooda did not do any such thing for any of the other several schools that have offered...

but still - that's why I said "..it looks like.......and ...perhaps we will see other confirmation shortly..."

Looking forward to our game at Redbird next season and taking it hard to whoever they decide to put on the floor. Truly a special game there this past year.

apparently he has not verballed to ISU as there's nothing else to confirm it...
altho he does also post this teaser of him in an ISU jersey on a PS2K19 -

also - ISU's other current top target Savion Gallion just verballed and signed to...Buffalo- https://twitter.com/VerbalCommits/st...44703698083840
..so they keep losing out on everyone...

The kid (Kolton Mitchell) is an ISU recruit, but there is still no report that he has committed to ISU or any school-
http://verbalcommits.com/players/kolton-mitchell

It's got to be some kind of fake, mock-up cover for NBA 2K19. It incorporates his prep school picture from his twitter page-
https://twitter.com/KoltonMitchell
https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/1123008369470648326/HvauX_Ct_400x400.jpg

It would be against NCAA rules for a kid to appear on a commercial product like Play Station NBA 2K19, and he would lose his college eligibility, and beside, this kid is a relatively unknown high schooler, far from being a star player, the type anyone would feature on a video game.

I don't know who would create something like that. If it was someone at ISU, I'm pretty sure that would also constitute an NCAA recruiting violation.

In fact, as I check Kolton Mitchell's twitter page, there are several posts to him apparently by ISU fans like these-

And this mock-up that shows him as the "Baddest point guard in the Valley"-

The NCAA has already determined that these kinds of tweets encouraging a recruit to consider a specific school are a violation of recruiting rules.

High Major schools do this kind of thing all the time. They or even fans create these mock ups to encourage kids to choose their schools. I would guess ISU uses these things as part of their pitch. If it works more power to them.

Point guard Matt Hein, their only rostered point guard who had any eligibility left who was slated to return next year is on track to graduate, and has decided to leave ISU as a grad-transfer.
That gives Dan Muller another available scholarship, but so far this spring, he has had trouble getting anyone to commit to ISU.

Incoming freshman D.J. Horne is the only point guard right now who is projected to on next year's team, though Muller is desperately trying to land another couple guards.

we really need for every MVC team to win as much in the non-conference part of the season...
...would hate for the Valley to be down around 14th in Conference Strength again..

article from North Dakota reveals one reason why maybe their head coach Brian Jones was so anxious to get out of there
that he left the head coaching job to take an assistant spot at struggling ISU -- https://www.inforum.com/sports/baske...sketball-coach

their attendance is tanking so much that ...
"Every so often, a University of North Dakota basketball game is scheduled at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center
on a weekday during a 9 to 5 time frame. (capacity around 3000)

....attendance doesn't suffer during business hours because UND basketball fans are retirement age.
...At times ... there are more students in Jones' huddles than students in the student section.
...2018-19 average attendance was 1,664 fans -- the second-lowest average in at least 25 years.

... the school averaged 2,139 fans in 2016-17. ....1992-93 ...UND averaged 4,209 fans."

ISU's Matt Hein announces he's transferring to Siena - he musta had this all lined up for a while..
..seems quite a few ISU guys transfer out east - Zeke Upshaw to Hofstra, Deontae Hawkins to Boston College,
Roland Griffin to Iona, Hein to Siena..

I heard Malik is being transferred to Sing Sing.:lol::lol:

to his credit he did graduate in five years plus summers - at two different schools
https://twitter.com/Redbird_MBB/stat...26654198259714

he still has two cases pending in court - one for pushing his 18-year old girlfriend down the stairs during an argument...
and the other for running down another woman pedestrian then taking off and leaving her lying there...
....it will be interesting to see if he stays around to appear in court or ditches town like so many other ISU players who
went off to play pro ball & had charges pending & failed to bother to show in court.

Interestingly, the girlfriend, who also got charged because she damaged his cell phone, had also been given supervision but
failed to keep her court review dates and has had a Petition to Revoke Supervision, had charges re-instated and has failed to pay her fines & court charges.

..... Deontae Hawkins to Boston College.....

btw- I know ISU fans read here ...

so I have a question...whatever happened to ISU star Deontae Hawkins?
Of course we know he left ISU to play at Boston College in 2017-18 but then he only played 8 games and his season ended with injury-
so he almost surely could have petitioned NCAA and gotten a medical redshirt and been able to play in 2018-19 - right?

But instead, he left, signed with an agent and said he was going to go play pro - https://247sports.com/college/boston...Pro-118799425/

but then that's about the last of him seen anywhere - he does not appear to have played nor been on anyone's roster in 2018-19 anywhere in any nation.
So what happened?

Hawkins spent 4 years at ISU, though his first year (2013-14) he was ineligible due to academics-
https://goredbirds.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=4679

Then he transferred and played his 5th year (2017-18 ) at Boston College-
https://bceagles.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10015

His season was cut short by injury, and since it was his 5th year of eligibility (the maximum allowable by the NCAA), he was not automatically entitled to a 6th season. .
However, he still could have petitioned the NCAA for a medical redshirt and a waiver to play another year, but he chose not to.

Apparently Hawkins had enough with college, and decided to forego an attempt to get another year of eligibility. He hired an agent and dropped out and declared he would turn pro and sign with a team in Europe. The article makes it sound like the coaches at Boston College encouraged him to go pro.-
https://247sports.com/college/boston...Pro-118799425/

But as noted, there is no evidence that he signed with or played for any pro team in Europe or anywhere else in 2018-19.

ISU recruiting target Kolton Mitchell commits to UMass - so Muller still has an open scholarship to fill
