I,m not real good at researching this net info. Could some pass along the U of I link for there message board. Thanks

can't believe how many illini fans are down on weber now because of his recruiting or lack of it.fans are fickle. weber is a pretty darn good coach.

I agree. Weber is a class person and will be coaching at Illinois and having success long after Kelvin Sampson is gone from Indiana and out of coaching.

I disagree with this. He is a class guy and good person, but Illini Nation won't stand for continued defeats like this on the recruiting trail. Illinois is on the fast track to Big Ten mediocrity, and that's not acceptable.

It because Weber is a good guy that he will always lose out on recruits like Gordon, Sherron Collins, Derrick Rose, and other top talent. There is so much sleazy stuff that goes on with recruiting, from Kansas hiring the kids' families, to huge cash windfalls that get to the player, illegally and through shoe deals.

He will get very good talent, maybe not the top ones, and his coaching abilities will make up for the difference. I think he will continue to be successful and Illinois would be nuts to get rid of him.

Illinois talks and acts like they want to be big time, like they want to compete for a national championship regularly. If they want to do that, they have to be prepared to play the game that is high stakes college recruiting. It's a real shady business, but it is what it is. The NCAA is more to blame than the coaches if you really think about it, but that's another discussion altogether.

If Illini Nation is content being a middle-of-the-pack team in the Big 10 and going out in the 1st or 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament (assuming they make it), then they'll stay the course. However, if they want to be what they say and think they should be, some changes in philosophy and possibly personnel are going to take place. I'm not saying Weber is going to be removed just yet, but there could be a shakeup on the coaching staff after this year. If they continue to have circles run around them recruiting-wise, Weber won't be long for the job. Unfortunately, I think Bruce may just be too nice of a guy, and have too many morals to really compete with the big dogs. He also doesn't have Matt Painter closing for him anymore either. Meanwhile, Painter's building something pretty nice at Purdue.
